If we had an attendant for every character in the restaurant, nobody would be able to move around, and it would certainly take away form the experience. It's very rare that we need intervening since most of the guests are remarkably well behaved. It helps that they're sitting down when we approach. :)
It really depends on the restaurant and the character, though! I was perfectly fine as Timon at the Swan/Dolphin, because it was a small, uncrowded restaurant (half the tables were business guests, anyway, who didn't especially want to interact with a character), but Pooh at the Crystal Palace was very hard. The kids wouldn't stay in their seats to wait for me; they'd run around and then hang off my arms or grab at me. I learned to scrape them off like barnacles. Also, Pooh's lack of visibility and the size of CP was a problem; I got lost a lot the first week, and had to do the "paw in mouth, I am a bear of Very Little Brain" routine until my attendant found me and guided me to where I was supposed to be.
The 'munks at Chef Mickey's were easier, because they're more mobile than Pooh and have vastly better visibility. I never really had problems there. (Lots of kids tried to give me food, though, which never happened at the Crystal Palace... not sure what was up with that.)

The kids always feed the chipmunks- they're the trouble makers. I loved eating at the Garden Grill at the Land pavilion. I had friends who worked there and they used to show me the bread sticks and cookies the kids had given them that they had stashed in their overalls. The kids have been well trained by the chipmunks to give food!

I mean, come ON.

We saw Mary twice that trip for breakfast and she said, "I'm going to miss you, Love!" to the baby when she found out we were going home after our second meeting. She gave my daughter a huge hug and a kiss on the cheek.

They really, really hit it off. My daughter was fascinated by her lace gloves.

sorry the photo is so big I shrunk it on the webpage!?

Yes we were doing the character breakfast at 1900 Park Fair and I put her in her Sunday best. . .sadly she would not leave the little cute lace scrunchie in her hear she kept taking it out to put the napkin rings on top of her head instead LOL

I have got to find other pictures from this and post them to a blog.

Thank you Dylan! She did indeed corner the market on adorable- this was sadly, 11 years ago *SOB* She's still cute but now almost as tall as I am!!! whaaaaaa!

Last time we were there. . .she surprised us all and especially Jack Sparrow by fencing him with both hands on the wooden sword. I didn't get to warn him that she is a black belt in TKD and stronger than she thinks! He jumped back so fast and out of the way LOL I told her to take it easy- she just honestly didn't know how hard she was swinging the thing!

Jack and Mack both took quite a shine to her, Mack called her "Fancy Pants" cause she had little silver skull and crossbones on her capris LOL.

I have to tell you, watching your kid fence with Captain Jack Sparrow is just about the coolest thing you can experience as far as I'm concerned, and was worth the entire price of the 9 day vacation right there.

That Jack has no idea how much that moment meant to us as a family. I asked the CM's at Pirates to tell him afterward that she'd been hoping ever since the first POTC came out to get to meet him. To get to fence him- we never dared dream and she got picked the VERY first time we saw the show.

You talk about a memory. Especially considering she is getting so big now that she'll have aged out of the show probably by our next trip *sigh*

Mack looked at Jack and said "I can't fight her, she's six inches taller than I am!" LOL

Funny moment that no one else at the Sparrow show got that day; one of the children they picked was named "Marissa." Jack looked at her and said, "Are you going to explain it all?"

LOL I was the only one in the entire crowd who laughed LOL I got it Jack! I got the obscure Nickelodeon reference LOL

I found it! The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything as far as a 1 year old is concerned. . .NAPKIN RINGS!!!

Image

Oh and just in case anybody worries. . .I not only made SURE she never put them in her mouth (thinking of the next guest) but afterward I wiped them down with antibacterial hand wipes. When we left I'm sure they were the cleanest napkin rings in WDW LOL

Then again,Knott's doesn't consider its employees human now do they? :( That would mean better wages, respect, and edible food.
AMEN!
i had a few guest take swings at me when i work at KBF as a ride op but security was always right there when they would swing
