I don't suppose you're ready for what my parents have at their house (much to my jealousy). FiOS, or fiber optics. They were one of the first houses to ever have it, they were part of the test group. The internet experience with that is that you think about where you want to go, you type it in, the page comes up and you hit enter.

Did I mention it's fast?

Fiber is totally cool performance wise. It's a lot tougher to install than copper but the trade offs are well worth it. Dense Wave Division Multiplexing now offers speeds over 40 Gbps. Throw in add-drop muxes and the network becomes very efficient.

Plus when you need to grab data, all we do is get the IT guys, and tell them to give us a DD or we will start cutting the fiber connects so that we can take it with us!! hehehe Works every time!!
