We all have seen BW without his purple pants.

You may all rest assured that Big Wallaby will continue to be appropriately attired here on SGT. BW, please send me your start date on KS and I'll do the honors.

Oh, and congratulations. A quick decision like that means you had somebody pulling for you. One guesses that one of those great GSMs you have is better than you thought.

I only hope my next role change goes as quickly....

I have a few that I trust implicitly, who I can certainly imagine helping with this. Of course, I am sure they would never admit to helping me out, but my first thought when I got the call the other morning was that that was the case.

Making things more interesting, I didn't have to interview at all. It just went through. A friend who went over a month ago had to interview. This friend has had both blue and yellow badges at different times, been in management and got back out for guest contact. He had to interview, but I didn't. I don't quite understand how that one works. But hey, I'm not complaining.

It's been fun the last couple days, where I just don't care to let the automated announcer do its thing. I just talk right over it, it never pipes up, the guests love it and now, I am looking forward to never touching MiMs again.

I also have it on good authority that because of MiMs, the top people in Transportation are out polishing their resumes, finding safe places to escape to for when the axe comes down in mere months, when they try to go to Phase III and it fails miserably.

We have two camps of managers: Those who understand Disney, who, now that I am on my way out because of it, have confessed they hate the thing. The other camp is those who were okay with or even pushing for the complete automation of guest relations on the bus. I'm sorry to say that I believe that this system has been to the detriment of all of Disney World, no matter how unrelated it may seem to buses. We set the guests' moods and expectations for the day. The day that stopped, the guests' expectation of service went downhill with it. So everyone who pushed this system onto buses, those who lied early on and said we would always have the option to turn off the auto spiels only to force it on us, thereby getting rid of some of the old trivia buffs who used to drive buses (I know of a gentleman who quit who had a huge binder of different trivia facts he had collected over many years at Disney World), those who still believe the guests' experience on the bus should be nothing special, I can't wait to hear their heads hit the floor when that axe comes through the room. And I have heard stories of the top guys getting out of transportation now before that. The sad part is some good managers will probably get hit with that axe, but on the same token, far too many good people left of broken hearts. So for those who caused that, good riddance. They made their bed, I guess they shouldn't have slept with the executioner's wife. I have a list of managers who are the example of the type of person I hope they will be replaced with. I would list them here, but I would hate if the wrong person read them being listed here and got them in trouble.

Talk about your mixed metaphors... yet somehow I still completely understood this! :D:

Well...now Big W has his cake...let's see if he enjoys lying in it too! ;)

Edited to add: My roommates and I are talking about buying into DVC. If the DVC people could have told me "Big Wallaby's going to be at Kili Safaris" then the deal would have been sealed right there! (or it would have sounded like some sort of weird code...) BTW: BW, as you and I have already talked about, I'm thrilled to have someone as intelligent and articulate as yourself going to KS! That's so awesome. (Two other side notes: I recently saw a pic of a chalkboard that is supposed to be near KS listing the "different excursions available", and while I didn't see it while I was there, I'm going to keep looking. I had done two or three of the ones on there that I saw [Ngorongoro Crater and Serengheti Hot Air Baloon...] Second side note: on my KS trip while down there last week, our driver was great, but some bad guests who have trouble following safety directions really threw her off her spiel. When it was over I thanked her for a great Safari and she apologized for screwing up a couple of names of animals. I told her not to worry because that made it all the more authentic! [for those who don't know, most real safari guides have no idea what they're talking about and will say anything to keep the "Wazungu"--rich, dumb foreigners--happy.]) Wow...that edit is way longer than the post! I'm too smart by half today!
