From a car, you can't see the standing water very well... but we had a good laugh as he got in, got stuck, spun his tires and within seconds was up to his axles. He sat there a good few hours.
My favorite was over on Epcot Center Drive, I watched a Maingate BUS do that. Took two Hughes bus wreckers to get him out of the mud. I drove by multiple times just to take pictures.
Coming home on the highway, they're doing a lot of construction in the stretch near my exit. At the start of the workzone, there's almost always a state trooper parked with his lights on, more as a preventative measure than to pull anyone over. People tend to slow down when they see the flashing lights (and the construction zone limit is down to 40). With each new traffic pattern, the troopers have to find a new location to park, but a common one is in a grassy patch between the highway and an exit ramp.
As I approach one evening, I see a cruiser parked *across* that exit ramp, blocking it off. (Not my exit, thankfully) As I get closer, I realize that there's a second cruiser in the grass parked perpendicular to the road, and a tow truck on the exit ramp, hooking up to the cruiser. Seems simple, the car broke down while parked there on duty. Nope. As I pass, I realize that the trooper had *beached* his car on a mound of dirt and needed a tow. I can just imagine having to call THAT one in... :D:
I knew that the car would be gone by the time I circled around for another pass on the highway to take a photo, but I quickly got off and drove around to an overpass that looked down on the scene and was able to grab a quick shot from a distance... ;)
