Uh, you need to know that mechurchlady has nothing to defend on this site. She is not, nor has she been, a Cast Member. Yet if I ever see her at Disney World, she is the type of person who is getting an extra day added onto her time at Disney World by me, because she is one of the guests who is willing to see our humanity and enjoy us for it. It is that humanity that truly makes Disney World magical. If you can't recognize that the cost of having humanity is that people work there who may not have eyes in the back of their heads, or the people who work there daily are too busy doing what they need to do to run down every kid on Heelys or smokers, then I don't know if you can enjoy any theme park. Remember, for every Cast Member, there are thousands of guests that we are here to entertain and keep as much of the area around us safe as possible. Just as I will not have contact with every single person at the Magic Kingdom, there are not enough Cast Members to be in every single square foot in the park... otherwise, there would be no room for guests. Many things are very tightly controlled here, much more tightly controlled than you will ever know... but some things just can't be, as much as we may try.
You seem very direct, so I am going to be direct with you. What is your purpose here? By your very first question, you make it obvious that you do not understand the workload of every Cast Member... which is good, since that means that every Cast Member you have encountered makes it look easy. Kudos to them.
But really, what is your purpose here? If it is to come in, insinuate that we are all a bunch of lazy people not doing our jobs, then you have done that; please leave now. If you are here to gather information, ask what you are really trying to find out and let's get it answered and move on. If you are here to start a fight in your first ten posts, then please leave, as we do not care to fight. Many people come and go here, many others lurk and say little but we still know they are there, behind the curtain of some anonymity enjoying, or at least perusing the site with the occasional comment here and there and we appreciate their silent company; but with as little as you have said here before, that we can't get to know you or trust you, in our minds you are not yet worth fighting with.
Now, I don't mind pointed questions, but use a little tact. Don't go attacking members of this site who have gained our respect by what they say and do here. If you are here to pick a fight, then do it somewhere else. I haven't seen many trolls on this site, but I don't think we would put up with them long. That is not to call you one... yet. That is still to be proven, as it is with anyone with a total postcount of four. And I hope my initial sense of you is wrong. But to come in, then attack someone when they defend us does not bode well in my eyes. While I am not a moderator or admin here, I know that there are certain things that I believe regarding verbally protecting respected members of SGT on which the admins and mods will agree with me.
So if you want to ask your original question again, please cite very specific examples, and word it so it's not like an attempted stab at us and our collective character as Cast Members. Because again, verbal stabs from someone we don't know itch a little, but that's about it.
You're off on the wrong foot with at least a few of us, but you are in a position where you can get back on the right foot by being a little tactful until we get to know you. You walk a dangerous line, so get on one side or the other. I went through the same trust curve, and that is part of why I expect you and everyone else to do the same.
To give a concise answer to your original question, we are not police, we have many other jobs. If we see something and are close enough, we will let the offender know the rules, but if we chased people down we might as well change the name from Disney World to Police World. We strive to make Disneyland/Disney World perfect, but the only way to make it truly perfect is to remove the wonderfully flawed people that come to work and play with us.
At one time, there was a dress code even for guests. Much of what goes on we could fix by re-enacting things like that dress code, but there would be a major downside to that. I don't know about you, but I don't care to go on Kali River Rapids in my Sunday best.
So if your questions still aren't answered, come back and ask them with some respect for us, at least as human beings, showing in the text.
Thank you.
