Am not flaming or trying to contradict here -ok? :) Many many have COPD condition, even emphysema & have never smoked nor had parents who smoked. Disney Dr's statement, not mine. I'm a non smoker but refuse to preach to others & can't change the world.

I am back from Encinitatas and found something for the smokers.

I stopped at the rest stop on the I-5 near camp pendleton.

No smoking within 20 feet was on a sign on the entrance of the women's restroom.

I could see a Highway Patrol officer as he whips out a tape measure out and tells smokes move their rump 20 feet away from the restroom NOW!! That is a little drastic considering the toxic fumes in the restrooms.

It's actually a state law now that smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of an operable door or window at a government building. I guess that restroom counted as being a government building... :D:

It is a state of California run rest stop on the side of the Federally owned highway. Ok who was at the state offices supergluing windows shut?

If you think you got it tough now in California you cannot smoke near a bathroom, what is next, 100 feet, a mile or not in the whole state?

I hate to say it, But that's where we are heading. Pretty sad in my view that even though tobacco smokeing is a legal product, to use it is illegal. Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I think all smokers should take up chewing tobacco and see how the health nuts like walking around in tobacco spit. :(

As a Californian I am more afraid of smokers nailing shut windows than the cigarette smoke. The smoke makes me puke but it is not fair that people get addicted then are made to stand in the rain while the horse and dog are inside nice and warm.

I do blame the cigarette companies, not the smokers. What was the topic? Yesterday at MK I saw no smokers.

I recall reading something a couple of years back (I cannot for the life of me recall where I read this) that was talking about the trend for businesses taking away employee smoking areas or making them inaccessible by moving them too far away from buildings. Basically what I recall about the article was that it suggested chewing and spitting in a cup around the office and on the ground outside (and make a big production out of 'I'm doing this because I don't have a place to smoke.') and watch how quick management comes up with an alternate smoking area and slightly revised rules! :D: (And by the way: I chew on planes. I know you're not supposed to, but why? Who am I hurting? Especailly if I'm low key about it so I don't draw attention and gross people out...)
