Official SGT ADD thread

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

It was great, I was working Magic Kingdom, came north on World Drive and saw 2749 gasping its last, and got up to the coordinator on visual, who got a great laugh out of me humming "Charriots of Fire".

Where there any marshmallows?

What I really want to know is why diesel was there (other than to get in the way). It's not like he was going to fix it and drive it back! Let RCFD put it out and then have Hughes take it back to VM South to dispose of it properly. Other than the steaming metal, the outside didn't look too bad, maybe they will rebuild it (Not).

When I'm sitting in traffic, and I hear car fire is the cause, I am always happy I'll get to see it. Sure enough, by the time I'd get there, it's gone. Not that I wish car fires on people, but I like to see WHY I'm stuck in traffic...

I have a couple questions about the "bonfire", BW and Cran. I hate to sound stupid but I'm just trying to picture the scene in my head.

BW, what is TMC? I assume "coordinator on visual" is the coordinator on scene but if you were driving how'd you hum where he/she could hear you? It was a Disney bus I guess?

Cran, who's diesel and Hughes and what is VM South?

So any idea what happened, why the bus caught fire? I'm guessing nobody was hurt or I'm certain you guys would have let us know.

I hope 2749 was one of the busses y'all hate and not a good one.

Ok Shorty, I can help.

First of all, sorry for the confusing terms. Like we said before, it's a continuation of work and we sometimes forget that some of you don't work with us.

TMC is Transportation Management Co. the builder of the RTS bus. They are in Rosewell, NM of all places. The coordinator is the person at a hub that either dispatches the buses or controls the labor. In the case that BW was describing, the dispatcher (coordinator) stands out in a convenient place where they can see the loadzones and then dispatches a bus based on demand. The driver actually speaks face to face with the coordinator on visual dispatch so that's why the coordinator could hear BW.

Diesel is the call sign for the on duty mechanic or designate. Hughes is the heavy duty tow service that Disney uses to tow buses and VM South is Vehicle Maintenance - South location (as opposed to VM North). It is near FIW and that's where most of the serious work on a bus is done.

Unfortunately, 2749 was actually one of the better 2700 series buses. It was going to be retired soon, now it just went a little sooner than planned.

Zazu will have to add those to the acronym list. Wallaby seems to have a new acronym each day and sometimes he has a lot. Thanks big guy as I was confused also and I wrote the acronym list lol.
