Official SGT ADD thread

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

My family ate there last time we were at WDW. It was great...until the crazy family sat beside us...

There were 3 or 4 adults (I couldn't tell exactly, because they were constantly moving around) and I think 6 kids (once again, hard to get an exact count). The kids were all definitely under 10, and I think it's safe to say all under 8. This was basically the family everyone stares at while thinking, "God, I'm glad we're not like that!"

The kids were running amok, even getting into our pics with the characters...and the adults did nothing. Well, they yelled, but that just made things worse. The youngest little girl decided she wanted what I had on my plate, but I managed to move it before she could get her grubby hands on my food. She was in a high chair, though she could run around as well as the rest of them, so she could have just used a booster seat or something along those lines.

At one point, all of the adults had left the table, leaving the demons alone. The little girl started standing up in her high chair, screaming and crying for her mom. What did the mom say to that? In true SG spirit, she pointed at the girl and yelled, "Sit down and shut up so I can get you some food!" Then, the lady asked me to make sure her brat didn't fall out of the chair!

These people, of course, showed up at another character meal we went to later on in the day...and rode in the same monorail car as we did to AND from MK. I was ready to pull my hair out.

I found out today that a guy named Sanford Dole, a wealthy fruit-plantation owner, was put in charge of Hawaii when the monarchy was removed (by the US) in the late 1800s. I believe that's where the fruit company got its name.

True, and the term whip comes from them using a whisk or "whip" to turn cream into a frothy constincency and then mixed with syrup and seltzer water for a treat. later they used the term whip cream.

(it also reminds me of the egg cream sodas from back east!)

That's pretty amazing considering Goofy's Kitchen is at DisneyLand, not Walt Disney World.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Don't you remember when Goofy's Kitchen went to WDW for a month long vacation?

So now we are taking a whisk and creaming people named Dole. Dole whipping ooh you are scary folks. They are talking about coming out with orange dole whips.

Dinner time soon and I love the California hotel for safe and hearty food.

Perhaps thinking of any number of dining options with Goofy and/or Chip and Dale?

:o: Chef Mickey's, Goofy's Kitchen...I'm surprised I got it that close, considering the colossal headache I've been dealing with.

Do a search for Hawaiian Sovereignty and read through this.

It's all pretty interesting and an on going battle among a number of groups.

Also look up the Akaka Bill.

lady ulrike wrote:I have no idea what the cost will be, but you'll be there just in time for the new BBQ place to open. I believe it is going to be something like the Hoop De Doo Revue, although I think it might be characters, so dinner and show, but also maybe a character meal. I'm not really sure, but I know the BBQ they used to serve was really yummy, so I'm excited to be able to eat the BBQ again.

Also, for character meals, I recommend Goofy's Kitchen. It's not cheap, but it's buffet and very good. If you go for brunch it's a little cheaper, and if you get the timing right for that, it can be for two meals, just kind of eat between breakfast and lunch. If you have someone that MUST see princesses, however, then you should check out Ariel's Grotto.
Lady Ulrike - I think this is what you're talking about - it's from MousePlanet:

"Disneyland's Celebration Roundup & BBQ is still slated to open in April 2, but a Disney spokesman tells us that date has not yet been confirmed due to construction. The refurbished restaurant will have a brief "soft-open" period, during which it will accept walk-up or same-day reservations to give cast members an opportunity to work out the kinks of the new operation. The Disney Dine Line is not yet accepting Priority Seating reservations for this location, and we'll inform our readers as soon as they do."

Sounds like they're going to use the CMs as guinea pigs.
