Official SGT ADD thread
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Time for some people to keep this thread going.
Look a butterfly and do not forget that butterflies are free but the bacon cheeseburgers cost dearly at DLR
Dole whips have no whips or doles so why are they named dole whips and why would someone want to whip doles. I feel sorry for the poor whipped dole family.

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
We're planning a trip to DL in late April and I am SHOCKED at the price of food in the resorts and at the parks. EGADS!! I thought WDW food was expensive. Are there any good deals out there at DL in the way of food? I'm paying for meals for all of us (4 adults, 3 kids) and it's gonna hurt. :(mechurchlady wrote:Time for some people to keep this thread going.

Will you have a car? Lots of off-property eateries, but Rancho Del Zocalo has plentiful food, Plaza Inn has very large servings, and Carnation Cafe is good.
DTD we like Tortilla Joes', not really cheap but they have outside counter for less expensive food items, inside they have a very filling steak torta sandwich plate I order nearly every time and price is not bad. $10.99 I think. HUGE Corn Dogs for sale on Main Street, I want to try one!
Will your hotel serve a breakfast? That helps! :)

Do you have cash? My friend Calvin can get you 10% and I can get you 15% off of some restaurants with AP or AAA card. NO there is not cheap food at the parks. It cost over $24 for two turkey legs, bag of chips, water, coke, and one corn on the cob.You can walk out the park and across the street to McDonalds for example.

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
Wow, Churchy and DisneyMom, thanks for the tips and menus. We won't have a car and will be staying at Grand Californian on DVC points. We'll do one character meal, haven't decided which one yet. At the counter service places I think we'll order kids meals most of the time to save on costs, or share a regular meal. The kids are 8,6,4 years old and don't eat much but they sure are wasteful. Maybe we'll just clean up after them instead of ordering a meal :D: (just kidding).
Sure hope to meet some SGTers while we're there. The rugrats are surprisingly well behaved so don't let that scare you away. Haven't been to DL since 1980(?) so we're really looking forward to our visit, April 26-30th. My son's in the National Guard so we're getting the special military park tickets.

I have no idea what the cost will be, but you'll be there just in time for the new BBQ place to open. I believe it is going to be something like the Hoop De Doo Revue, although I think it might be characters, so dinner and show, but also maybe a character meal. I'm not really sure, but I know the BBQ they used to serve was really yummy, so I'm excited to be able to eat the BBQ again.
Also, for character meals, I recommend Goofy's Kitchen. It's not cheap, but it's buffet and very good. If you go for brunch it's a little cheaper, and if you get the timing right for that, it can be for two meals, just kind of eat between breakfast and lunch. If you have someone that MUST see princesses, however, then you should check out Ariel's Grotto.

REad the rules on the Military passes as the ones they gave out were for so many days but one park at a time unless you paid extra to make them hoppers. Zazu what did I tell you about that, I forget.
I will gladly stop by one day in the park with you and get you discounts or baby sit while you do bobsleds over and over. I would have to have cash or disney dollars in advance as they do not allow, usually, a third party to do the paying. I am not irking Disney management.
Bengal BBQ, Blue Bayou, Blue Ribbon Bakery, Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, Clarabelle's Frozen Yogurt, Daisy's Diner, Discover the Magic Tour, Enchanted Cottage, French Market, Golden Horseshoe, Hungry Bear Restaurant, Little Red Wagon, Plaza Inn, Pluto's Dog House, Rancho del Zocalo, Redd Rockett's Pizza Port, Refreshment Corner, River Belle Terrace, Stage Door Cafe, Tomorrowland Terrace, Village Haus

Grand Californian, Very Nice!
No car makes it harder, but it might be worth it to you to take a 10 min walk to the 7-11 on the corner of Harbor and Katella next to CandyCane Inn and stock up on waters, breakfast items and snacks to keep in the hotel room. The CMs might even know some other nearby places to find some staples.
Across Harbor/Candy Cane not a far walk, there is a Subway and Pizza and Chinese place. I've heard the Denny's /Captain Kidds' directly across Harbor
are to be avoided.
