Hey it's 35 years after A New Hope, not 50! Remember Luke and Leia were around 18 in that film so they would be in their early 50s, not their 70s. Actually I think the current books are set about the same time frame, with Han and Leia's surviving daughter as a Jedi pilot and Luke's son as a very young Jedi.
