It kills me how people think only foreign beers are "good" beers. I happen to prefer Budweiser. Even though its no longer an American Beer.

I don't like these beers because they are foreign, but because they taste better. Yes, I have had them all before. Of the lot, Chimay is my favorite. But, I am a huge proponent of local breweries and try to buy from them as often as possible. In fact, my 16 year old son want's to be a brew master some day. And it's not just small breweries that are good. I think that Sam Adams comes up with some good beers seasonally (don't like ALL their offerings, but the seasonals tend to be better) and the best mass produced beer out there in my opinion, is Yuengling. Up and down the line (including their light beer and the current seasonal pumpkin) they are terrific. Personally, I've moved beyond Budwieser and Miller and don't find them flavorful enough anymore. I've spent the last 10 years or so educating my pallete at the local pub and am enjoying a wide world of beers.

I still remember that one morning--half hour after Nazi Fairy Farm opened for the day--a guy and his little kid came up to Huff'N'Puff. The kid rode, and the obviously-drunk father asked me where some place that sold alcohol was. I informed him that the sit-down restaurants sold beer and wine; forgot to tell him they we'ren't open yet--and after his kid got off the ride, and I had nearly gotten my park map taken from me (he apologized), he and his kid--about 3 years old I'd say--left in the general direction of the nearest sit-down restaurant. I wish I'd called security or something; I mean, that's a hazard right there. Obviously he was drunk when he entered the park. I think the people at the gate should have told him to go home and sleep it off and come back later.

I'm very partial to microbrews in general. I gravitate towrards the lighter ones (color -- not caloric content) like the IPAs. Sam Adams is more widely distributed, but I like a lot of the offerings from Shipyard in Portland, Maine. My all-time favorite so far (I will diligently keep searching for something even better) is Warsteiner from Germany.

The front gate people really have no power. If it's like Kings Island, if we deny someone admission, most likely Guest Services will overrule us or they'll just go in through someone else's turnstile.

My all-time favorite so far (I will diligently keep searching for something even better) is Warsteiner from Germany.

We love Warsteiner. And it comes in a can which is good for tailgating. It's even the right color for Yellow Jacket tailgates - mostly gold and no red on the can at all. Sweetwater 420 is a really good IPA that you might be able to find further south. And a great little local brewery in Tampa is Holy Mackerel.

A few years ago I went into Sommerfest in Epcot, and I couldn't see the menu clearly (aging eyes ) so I asked if they had Warsteiner. The young German kid behind the counter got kind of excited and said "You've been to Germany!" I had to dissappoint him, though, and tell him I had discovered it in German restaurants here in the US. He was still very nice and I got a Radeberger Pilsner instead. Not bad, but I would have preferred a Warsteiner. :D:

During the food and wine festival Spatan sets up over at the German Pavillion. We think the Optimator is the best. You might give them a try.

My husband and I have had something similar happen to us in Japan while wasting time and sampling at the Sake Bar inside. The bartender got excited thinking we must have been to Japan since we know some of the more uncommon brands (not your typical Jug O'Sake you can pick up anyplace). We explained we'd found most of them from various restaurants and recommendations.
