Have SUV, Will Drive :D:
We've got a van, but ditto. I kind of like the "in the air" part, but I've never liked hanging out in airports, and I like to see the country, so the added hassle means I haven't been on a plane since 9-11 either. Been in airports a time or two, since the kids still fly, but mostly I manage to avoid that part as well. Hubby, who has the patience of a saint, is always willing and usually able to take over that duty.

Yah, I gotta admit we'd go to WDW a lot more if we lived closer and could just buzz down for a long weekend. As it is, we only go when we can schedule a two week vacation (which is roughly every other year), so we can take two days driving down and three back up and still have a fair bit of Orlando time. Plus we stop some other places on the way back -- found a great little museum in Cartersville, GA with lots and lots of pretty rocks. :)
Plus, driving is an adventure. Last time we went, took some cool pictures of where a tornado had come through (we'd stopped there for lunch -- prior to the tornado, there'd been bunches of eating places along there and the "restaurants" sign hadn't been removed yet), then ended up spending two days in Marietta, because the guy doing a simple fix on the van screwed up and stranded us.

Must have cost those guys a fortune -- they put us up in a hotel one night (and there's seven of us, meaning we need two rooms), then when they finally gave up on fixing the thing and confessed they were going to have to haul it to the dealer's, hubby told them he wanted a rental van so we could resume our trip and they coughed up. The wait was kind of a hassle, but OTOH we got a nice rental for most of the trip, and a ton of work done on the van for free because they had to pull it all apart to undo what the mechanic had done. I'm guessing that mechanic now understands why they tell you to
replace that bolt instead of putting the old one back in. :D:
