Its not REALLy free. Our tax rates are considerably higher than yours, when both income and sales and other taxes are taken into consideration. In fact they released a report today stating that the overall rate was 41% !! Sure that includes booze, fuel, realestate transfer taxes and others. But it is still massive.
My cousin is a plastic surgeon who did his residency on Maui. He was offered a position there on completion of the program, and I can't for the life of me figure out why he returned to practice in Winnipeg ! He gripped about too many vanity surgeries under the US system, whereas in Canada he is able to dedicate himself to reconstructive surgery, for burn and accident victims. But surely a surgeon in Hawaii could pick and choose his cases ?

I find it hard to believe that there's that many vanity surgeries on Maui. There's a lot of high end homes here but most are used for vacations so the owners are probably getting their work done on the Mainland. I could be wrong.
Your cousin probably worked at Maui Memorial and knows Pete Galpin. I know Pete from when he brings in Boy Scouts to the yacht club to get their sailing merit badge.

Could be people like to combine their vanity procedure with a trip to Hawaii -- get the procedure done and then spend your recovery time relaxing there. Then, when you get home, deny the surgery and tell everyone you were revitalized by the vacation. ;)

Could be. There's a number of homes with lotsa land and gates where someone could hide out and still have a good island experience.

I was wrong once but I made a mistake. I was right. :D:
I'm still working on September. Just waiting to hear back from the Air Force Museum curator.

If only we had a like button... I guess this will have to do:

Sounds more cost-effective to do that work on the mainland. In fact, I would say do it right before you leave, recover on the island of your choice, and you'd probably save a bunch... but then, Tillamook cheese is quite a bit cheaper in Kona than Orlando, when you can find it here. So don't do your plastic surgery in Orlando.

I didn't know Chuck Norris was on this site!
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I'll keep a low profile & DLS close by. :)

Tillamook cheese + plastic surgery = :jessica: ??
That makes for great advertising I suppose.
What is that cheese in a can from Washington state? Oh yes,
Cougar Gold. The university makes it in its agriculture program. I think it started as a research program during WW2 and became very popular. I know that you can mail order it.

My wife told me about a friend who lives in Beverley Hills. She wants to get some work done but doesn't want anyone to know so she's coming here for the procedure and holing up in a condo.
The stuff some people go through to keep something secret when one look tells everyone something has changed.
