Your cousin must have good survival skills. Most Californians know that when the big one hits, the first thing east of the state will be Europe.

By your interpretation of the California Vehicle Code, the Disneyland Resort Fire Department vehicles are also in violation, since they have red strobe lights. I suspect that they count as "authorized emergency vehicles" despite their privately-owned nature.

As well you should be Kman. You visit us, spend millions of $$ @ DL at least two times a year & just look at DLS breaking Ca. Vehicle Codes. Don't you know someone in Security with pull? I'd sure call him & complain abt APPALLED and DISGUSTED ASAP. This could ruin you for life. Oh, wait.... just copy, cut & paste this & send to his private Em addy. Think this is how complainers work these days. ;)

Well, we WERE going to discuss this over dinner, but we decided against it. The atmosphere and company were too gracious for us to bring up such a ugly topic :D:

California must be rough all 'round. Every time one of my kids visits their uncle there, they end up in Station 51. :D:

I have two cousins, a brother and his family, and two good friends I met elsewhere. The really sad part is that the blood relatives are the ones in the LA area  ; the friends are well north. Plus both friends moved there because that's where their family's been for generations and they wanted to be closer to family (well, one of them wants to inherit the house by taking care of mom for a while :p: ); my family's grounded in the midwest. I'd say my sibling and cousins were trying to get away from the relatives, but they get as many visits there as they did when living in more reasonable places like Denver.

Flattery will get you ANYTHING & EVERYWHERE & you know it. :) WE had little time to discuss much as he was down on one knee singing Happy Birthday. The rest of the awesome evening, if I recall, was teaching DLS to pronounce ceviche. ;) Come out again. We'll discusss it @ the corn dog stand. :D:

The Corn Dog Truck, THE BEST QS at DL, also location where you can discuss ugly topics, such as Cinderella's step-sisters!

First of all, if I may, I would like to remind my fellow forum dwellers that not only do some of us actually live in California, we enjoy living here, and find suggestions that one's mental abilities or stability would need to be in question to live here disheartening. While I am pretty sure such comments were meant as good-natured "jibes", such comments can become tiring over time.

Now, back to the matter at hand: I suppose it is possible that Disney applied for an exemption on their vehicles. Why they got it may have less to do with money being thrown about and more that Disney has a good reputation. Of course, there is probably no way to know for certain. It may also be that someone at Disney didn't know about that restriction, and it is simply a low priority for the police to come out and cite them for their infraction.
