They'd be deep enough out their parents just carried them out to the car, then carried them to bed when they got home. Not even the hassle of getting strapped into their carseats woke them.
Supposedly babies come into the world used to sleeping all day (since that's when mom would be moving around during the day, "rocking them" if you will), awake all night, so they don't associate quiet with sleep necessarily.
but with real rocks...
