Something I have always wondered about refunds

Like lady ulrike, we weren't so much about "sleep anywhere" as about "sleep through normal household noises." Most of my kids weren't major nappers (they did sleep a long time at night, though), but I didn't sweat being quiet for the ones that were. I had a friend whose kids would crash out where ever they were at bed time -- snoozing out under a table or whatnot -- while mom and dad visited. They'd be deep enough out their parents just carried them out to the car, then carried them to bed when they got home. Not even the hassle of getting strapped into their carseats woke them.

Supposedly babies come into the world used to sleeping all day (since that's when mom would be moving around during the day, "rocking them" if you will), awake all night, so they don't associate quiet with sleep necessarily.

I am also curious if anyone else has done what I mentioned before about training kids to sleep anywhere. I have a teacher from High School who I ran into a few years later, and he had a newborn son. We were at a sports event, and the kid was sleeping right through it. He even explained that he wanted to have his son able to sleep, that people didn't have to tiptoe around his kid. Anyone have thoughts on this? Just out of curiosity.

I took my niece to MK one day when she was still very young and spent most of the time in the stroller. She was sound asleep so while my sister went on the barnstormer I sat down on a bench by the toontown station. NOT THINKING about the train at all. I was right beside the train engine watching them get ready and then BAM. THey start blowing the whistle and building up steam. I never realized just how loud that engine is, whistle and steamworks. Well my niece never even stirred. She slept the whole time as the engine passed us. I was amazed.

Very interesting how many of you responded to my (at the time I thought) insignificant question. Thank you all. I am sure eventually I will have kids, and this is good stuff to know.

Yes, this is done. I've done many on different in park merch. Called an N S A = No Strings Attached.

If you are a Board X reader perusing our site, might I make a recommendation: Don't ever, EVER ask for one of these by name. If you run into me and ask, I am likely to call GR and do what little I can to get you thrown out of the park. I might even accuse you of fondling me. I know it's a stretch (why would you want to) but don't put it past me.

That coming from someone who, when I was in buses, I was entrusted with my own book of NSA's, because I could handle the ability to make that kind of magic without abusing it.

Yeah. I kinda feel strongly about the No Strings Attached program, and don't want to ever see it go away, because of the way I've been able to save vacations with a single use-it-now-or-whenever-you-want-wherever FastPass.

Nice thing about the Transportation NSA, they have no monetary items. They are only good for a FastPass. They are designed to help you get your time back, nothing more.

The magic only works when it is a surprise, which we have had plenty! When I tell people I have friends who work for Disney, sometime I get the "Oh, that must be great, get in for free, etc." I tell them I am friends because I like the person, if my friends choose to do something for us at a park, it is never because we asked, or expected it, and the gratitude we have runs deep.

Same here, K-man. I have been fortunate enough to have made and sustained relationships with CMs through the years (not just through this board, but by meeting them in the park and exchanging email addresses). My one friend actually wants to get me park tickets (his real family doesn't get the chance to visit very much). As much as I appreciate this, I told him I had already paid for them with my package. I don't ever want him to feel like I'm using him (as a matter of fact, he might be using me, lol....there's a box of tastycakes sitting in my office for him, shipping out tomorrow).

I like my friendships....and that's what they are. Some of my acquaintances can't understand why I just like talking to my friends in DW and envying them because they do live in the Orlando area (too hot for me still).

Also, BW - same parenting thing here. We never tip-toed around the kids when they were babies and Quinn went to the parks when he was a year old....took a nap in his stroller everyday. He does stir a little bit if you try to move him say from the couch to the bedroom, but usually he'll sleep through World War III. I'm a big believer that if they're used to noise, they'll sleep better anyway. The middle child, Kyle, and Quinn and I all have to sleep with some sort of white noise as well....I usually fall asleep with the TV on (whoever invented the sleep timer was awesome) and Kyle uses his radio.

Talking about kids sleeping through everything--mom once told me how when my older sister was a toddler--had to have been before my time, we were 4 years apart--mom was walking with my older brother and sister, and when she looked back, my sister was sound asleep--and still walking! :D:

My brother was capable of that. One day he walked right into a parking meter! He awoke with a bit of a clang! He can still sleep anywhere, but I dont think he does it while in motion any longer.
