What Attractions Do We Miss?

River Country!

I loved the ziplines and the slides. Of course, if you wanted to have attractions like that in a non-chlorinated lake, your lawyer's head would just explode.

Saw some pictures last year of what it looks like nine years after it closed. It's like an episode of Life After People. Sad, really, that WDW hasn't really done anything with it.

Delta Dreamflight was one of my favorites as a kid. I am so glad Buzz kept one effect from that.

Holy crap, I completely forgot about this ride. I remember the vortex light effect going into the speed rooms, followed by the giant pop up book which a really cool piece of scenery. Very cool stuff.

Close. It's about keeping the trial lawyers from being happy. I've known too many plaintiffs' lawyers, and they're happiest with a target.

Seeing as I don't work there anymore, it looks like River Country will be demo'ed along with the pavillion and I believe the current stables out back at FW for more DVC situated on Bay Lake. Building permits for the demo have been filed with Reedy Creek/Orange County. Work is expected to start later this summer.

But like everything else with Disney, timelines are subject to change.

Don't expect the work to move quickly. the River Country "rocks" are chock full of asbestos. You're looking at months of guys in moon suits inside tents, just like when they razed the Contemporary's North Garden Wing.

Your note that the stables will be razed sounds odd when considered with the news that the stables by the parking lot are coming down. I would think they'd need to build new stables before they could raze either facility.

The stables are one of the phases that have been presented. I don't believe they were going bye bye immediately. You are correct oh wise bird that hazard remediation will take a long time. I believe that's why preping River Country was first, before anything else.

Does the razing of the stables mean you won't be able to go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness anymore? I really loved doing that! :mad: The horses they used were pretty bomb-proof not like some horses I have ridden.
