Better bet is to keep pressing the lock button. Most cars give a little chirp of a honk and blink the parking lights to confirm that it's locked.
Plus, it's not as annoying at the end of the night as the sound of 15 alarms going off because people didn't write down their row number.

no way, im not to stupid to not remember my row number, I only did it one time when I was at daytona speedway and me and some freinds had to park the car in a huge field... with no row numbers....
