Sorry, that is not a lie. This policy and practice has been in effect for years. You were granted access specifically to eat at OHana's. You were a dining guest on a night of restricted access to the resort.

To be fair...EVERY night is restricted access to resorts. There is no reason a non resort guest should be on the Poly beach at 10 pm.

And YES, it completely sucks that non resort guests still do not understand that the resort is not their playground.

Sorry if my post was unclear, let me specify what I meant. The lies were simply things they were walking behind the cast members and contradicting. Such as The fact that they wrist banded the event every year and that if someone wasn't staying at the resort they were not meant to ever be on property even to eat. I did not mean the specific fact that it was a restricted thing. That was understood I suppose by that point. But it was being said to guests who said they had been coming for many years that they wrist banded the event nightly. sorry I didn't think about how that had come out.

Remember, I said "loud", not "ugly".

I have found two rules that help when dinning with Zazu.
  1. Wear REALLY good sunglasses.
  2. DON"T dare him to wear one of the REALLY loud ones.
It was three hours before I was able to see in color again the last time.

Zazu, I vote for the flamingo one.

I'm just going to chime in here strictly because I booked the Poly for our next vacation. The reason I booked it: so that we could see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom one night. Believe it or not, in our three past trips, we've NEVER stayed for Wishes. BUT....now that I'm hearing about pool crashers, I'm not so sure. My kids love to swim and I don't want them to have to wait to have a good time.

I've heard wonderful things about the Poly and really want to stay there, but am also considering possible changing to the Boardwalk (we're EPCOT people). However, then I couldn't get a Dole Whip for a snack at night....decisions, decisions.

The way I look at this: if I didn't pay to stay at the resort (or buy a "day pass" should one be available), then I don't belong there. We did eat at Boma and California Grill on our last trip and, as much as I would have loved to explore the resorts, we didn't cause we felt like we were intruding. I will admit to taking my daughter for a walk near the AKL's pool after dinner, but only after speaking to a CM and asking if it was okay....she wanted to see flamingos, her favorite.

OK, there's my two cents.....

Here's one of Zazu's more subdued shirts from a couple years ago.

I really like the blue turtles. Zazu, if you'd rather this image not be here, please delete.

That one's an RJC. IIRC, it was the last such Hawai'ian shirt I was able to buy at the Polynesian before the recent retail remodeling. Today they just stock Tommy Bahama. Meh.

Gosh, I sure miss living in Hawaii. I love those bright tropical colors.

must mention that many people are using goodwill to shed some awesome shirts - shirts with coconut buttons even....

just sayin! ;)

$66 for a shirt? Dont have resources for that!

must play the lottery more often (than never!)
