Mountain 8 was more than a little confused when I called to tell them they had a Voban situation that needed attention.
At least the kid's dad acted surprised when he noticed, it's not like he had suggested it.

Actually, we do set them off in heavy rain, unfortunately it results in the smoke hovering so by the end of the show you can't see much more than random flashes of light. At the most, they tyipcally delay the show, and even then for lightning. At least, that was how it was when I worked there. What I was told by pyro crew is that once they are loaded, they have to be set off. So Disney's choice is to set them off with guests there, or after the guests leave. Hmmm, I wonder which one they will choose? In three CPs (each of approximately 8 months of length) I have never seen a show cancelled. I don't know what the policy is but I do know that it has been a long time since actual flame lighting fuse had been used anywhere. It's all electronic now so unless they haven't taken the precautions necessary to not have the wires short out...I'd say it doesn't matter if it's raining or not. I, however, would not be standing out in the rain to watch a bunch of loud flashes of light. So that is actually a very reasonable question and that CM is wrong, unless they have changed the policy since I have been down there.
I have seen Wishes canceled once, and that was when a hurricane was blowing by (note: I did not say through). It was very high winds, and they waited until we had even put the Monorails away. Then, the Castle shells started going off, in real time, but with no music playing. The large shells behind the park were not being launched.
