There's a George Carlin skit like that. He says, whatever happened to Bob? Where did he go? He was just here. And Frank, Joe, Tim. Where did they all go? And where the hell did Cassidy and Cody come from? Who let them in?leftcoaster wrote:You mean like: "Tyrell," "Ulanda," "Lebron," "Aleen," etc ?![]()

Yea, I've heard that. LOL.PirateJohn wrote:There's a George Carlin skit like that. He says, whatever happened to Bob? Where did he go? He was just here. And Frank, Joe, Tim. Where did they all go? And where the hell did Cassidy and Cody come from? Who let them in?
There was a study done a few years ago, where resumes with names like Frank, Joseph, Robert, Charles, etc. were submitted to companies with job openings, and those same resumes were submitted with names like Tyrell, Ulanda, Said, Kosey, etc.
Don't ask who got more calls for interviews.

At least with passholders you can blame it on the lousy picture! In the toll booths we need to be sure that the AP is in the car and there have been a few times when I have done a double take! just the other day I had a goth girl come in needless to say she did look the way she did when she had her pic taken! and of course after a few mistakes I always make sure to read the name first... then try to aviod gender altogether!Grumpy wrote:I was working at Splash photo (the past few nights, actually), and I had a guest that came up to me, wanting to purchase HER (thought it was a HIM) picture. . .
She was an asian woman, had masculine features. She carried herself in THE EXACT same manner as a feminine, homosexual male (ie. .stereotypical flamer {sorry if I offended anyone, I'm not intending to AT ALL}). She then asked if APs get their discount, I asked to see the AP, and she showed it. I thought it belonged to one of the 2 young girls that was with her, as I didn't pay attention to the picture. I granted the discount, and she wanted to pay w/ her bank card. I then asked to see ID. . .she showed it to me, and stupid me ACTUALLY asked:
"Excuse me, is this your wife's?"
She didn't get all pissed off at me or anything, she just calmly said "oh no, it's me. . . "
Talk about a stupid CM. . .I know we all have seen "gender questionable" guests, but to actually SAY something other than "excuse me sir" (to a female), every CM that heard about it, I guess was the highlight of their night.
and just to get off subject a bit....
I would like to know why is it when men dress as women they want to be refered to as such but when women dress and look like men they get upset when someone refers to them as male?

Let me guess: You're not married, right? Married men *know* that the rules are biased against them. *Stably* married men have accepted this fact and learned to live with it.murf wrote:I would like to know why is it when men dress as women they want to be refered to as such but when women dress and look like men they get upset when someone refers to them as male?

They also teach in MERCHANTAINMENT to address Guests by their first name when completeing a transaction... my S.O. works at a resort gift shop and had to stop himself midway through his thank you... they poor man's first name was DUMAHS (pronounced doom ahss)... He said could you imagine how it would've sounded to the other guests around for him to say thank you and have a magical day DUMAHS!murf wrote:Well yes I am BUT...

I know Dennis! I met him at a friend's house party about 2 years ago. Yes, he's unique and a bit startling..but he's also friendly, intelligent, approachable and warmly accepting of anyone who's different from the norm. His family line has deep roots in an ancient culture who upheld the notion of animal totems - and sometimes they would alter their bodies to resemble said animal. It's a spiritual thing for him, is all. And yes, the breasts are due to a medical condition. Removal would be risky, very painful and come with a good chance of regrowth, so he chooses - for now - to not undergo such a procedure.kimpossible33 wrote:That would be Dennis Avner (male :p: ).
