When you post satire, it's a good idea to flag it with an appropriate smiley, or even <satire></satire> tags so we know you're kidding.

I'm sure you don't want folks here to think you really believe such rot -- we might develop an attitude!

OMG!!! My Potato allergic friend is also allergic to tomatoes! (On a lower, non-deadly level.) I wonder if it's the nightshade thing...

Us too, but it's a minor inconvenience. We speak to chefs, ask what type of oil is used in fryers (100% refined peanut oil at Chik-Fil-A is fine but standard peanut oil at Cheeburger Cheeburger is not) and are cautious with new locations (he hasn't been to five-guys yet since they removed their guarantee of 100% refined peanut oil).

But as far as personal responsibility, what did I or my (then) two year old son do to get this allergy? Now that we have it, if a carrier or school is willing to make accommodations, shouldn't we use it? Isn't it more responsible to notify the carrier and if they decide to go peanut free so be it? Perhaps they don't want to take the chance of an unplanned landing at the nearest airport. Isn't that more responsible than waiting for the surprise allergy hit where we then run to the FA requesting help which will then put everyone off (likely blowing any chance of a connecting flight)?

I agreed that the government shouldn't get involved, but if Southwest wants to take the stance that everyone gets pretzels instead of peanuts is that wrong? I chose to fly Southwest because I like them. Others can choose not to fly them because they may not get peanuts. In the end we're both happy, right?

We have two little friends that are battling cancer (8 YOA and 6YOA). I can deal with inconveniences. I couldn't fathom receiving a call from MAW asking us to plan our trip. I know how lucky and blessed I am for my kiddos health.

You don't? Hum. I thought this was a free country. I think you do have the right to visit Disney, but if you choose to take that right, then you have to follow their rules. You don't have a right to demand Disney bend to your demands.

That's why it's not a right, there are rules that apply to it. But also, Disney can rightfully deny you visiting making it also not a right. I am of the view that the word "right" is overused and applied to so many things that are absolutely not rights.
