Didn't realize they still had Captain Jack at WDW, I miss seeing the back of him running away at DLR.......

Maybe he'll return in 2011 to promote Pirates 4 ;)

Yes, great story ifoundnemo!

I just saw the Pirate Tutorial the other day. My favorite part is Jack running away at the end... I just love how he runs!

It's looking really, really raggedy these days tho' (more than it's supposed to) so I don't think it will withstand any hurricanes that might come up this year.
That would be a shame. It's really cool. We got some great shots there on our last cruise.

The backs of heads is fine, but really I try to avoid them whenever possible. I wish others would do the same. As I dad I am very protective of my kid that way.
In my various classes at the community college in Tampa we were taught to do our best to NOT photograph children since only their parents have the right to give permission and not them.

I try my best to not include children, or if i do they are out of focus or far away and not the subject of the photo. The only other exception is like you, their backs not facing you and thats only if the photo deems it (like at Sesame street during media day even thought the parents signed the forms allowing us).

With that in mind photographing characters meeting children not related to you seems wrong, even if it was purely an innocent concept of the character interacting with non adults.

I always wait in line and take a few photos, but never have an autograph book. Even last sat when my sister was with me meeting the Mr. Bunny at MK I took area photos but none of them till it was our turn, (and Mr. Bunny was having fun even with us and my older sisters figment.)

Only really an issue though if you use their picture for commercial purposes (Commercial as in advertising or endorsing). As long as they are in a public space and have no expectation of privacy you are in the clear to do pretty much anything else with the picture.

true, but still when the site makes money or the photo is used in a magazine for profit, it gets a little tricky... esp if the child is the subject and you don't have permission by their parents.

No model release = no money from the magazine.

We got up there and started to see the characters..and once we got to Minnie, this little girl came from nowhere and jumped into the pictures with my kids. I couldn't fault the photopass CM as he had no idea she wasn't one of ours...since the mom was NO WHERE to be found for a good 2-3 minutes. So...some of my photopass pictures have some other kid in them. Finally, mom comes running to get her. Where was she? Seriously..they were pretty darn organized...not sure where they even were and how she didn't know her 3 year old was missing.
Oh, great, how DARE THEY!! HOW DARE THEY ruin your family pictures with not watching their kids and having them sneak in! I would demand to get a refund because someone let their kid into your picture! :)

Hehe, reminds me of my niece who insisted on being in the middle of a cousin's and bride's cutting of the wedding cake- My hubby's sister just watched, oblivious to the fact that she should have gotten her kid out of there for the pictures  I predict a future SG........
