Unfortunately I can do you one better. When my youngest was about 3 I locked her in the car, in her car seat with motor and a/c running. To make matters more embarrassing I was working traffic homicide for a PD. After about 15 minutes of telling her to push the electric lock botton down I had to radio in for assistance. Just before units arrived she got tired of the game and asked if she could push the button up and get out of the car.

I've done that once or twice. That's one thing I love about my current car, the accessories (like the radio) stay on after the key is removed until a door is opened. I can set how long they stay on after the key is removed and I have it set to the maximum, 10 minutes or something like that.

hehehehe I remember when I got issued a new explorer as a work vehicle. I had gotten it out of the shop with the company radio and emergency lights, etc. installed.
I found out that the car alarm/door locks are factory set to engage when the engine is running and all doors shut.
I was testing the lights to make sure they all worked when I heard that "click"
the only good thing was that I was in the parking garage of the "home" office and went up to the equiptment room and got the spare set of keys/alarm fob.
Duohhhhh!!
(did spend a few minutes reading the alarm set instructions to disable that feature!)

I'd hate that feature. My car doors automatically lock but only once you hit 15 MPH, not just turning the car on.
