Yikes! That's not good. :(

Stay safe. Hopefully things will calm down in the morning.

Wear either a motorman's friend or a jilted astronaut diaper. :D:

And just as cold as CT.Hey, did you bring this weather with you? :D: My wife is up in MA right now due to needing to be ibn court to follow up on a small claims case against a dog breeder we bought a puppy from (long story, I won't get into it here). She said it was warmer up there last night than it was here.

I can believe that. Here in Boston, temperatures are absolutely normal for this time of year. I hear the rest of the country complaining about the record cold, and I'm outside thinking, "This is the same as just about every other winter. Highs in the low 30s, lows in the high teens." It's not too bad, and it could be a lot worse. We've had a pretty dry week, too.

It hit 47 in parts of Alaska yesterday.

So, yeah, AK was warmer than Disney!

(We're around normal temps, too, but we seem to have extra sun, which is weird. But I'm not giving it back)

Wow. I’ve been here on the WDWCP for almost a month now and I haven’t made a single post yet. So here goes. Somewhat bad (well not bad news, but not the news we wanted to get) news followed by some great news.

I know you’re all probably wondering “did Monorail_Red get into Monorails?” and unfortunately the answer to that is no. I got placed into Bus Greeters. It’s actually a lot of fun, but more on this later. And one of my roommates, Master_Gracey…well he didn’t get the Haunted Mansion. He’s a skipper on The World Famous Jungle Cruise which Master_Gracey absolutely loves.

OK, so here we are at check-in day. I have to admit the whole first few days were a bit unsettling. The best way I could describe the feeling is like one of your first days of school after coming back from summer break…new classes, new teachers, new environment, etc. But that feeling has since passed a long time ago. We have a 3-bedroom apartment at Patterson Court. We originally wanted a 1-bedroom just because sharing a place with somebody (especially grown people) isn’t always easy. They have 2 people per bedroom, so there are a total of six of us.

Here comes the good news...

We never thought that having roommates would be as fun as it’s turning out to be. Better yet, I’ve heard stories of roommates not getting along in past seasons or even now. But I do have to say, one month into the program and we are getting along very well. So here’s our roles…Master_Gracey is a Skipper at Jungle Cruise, another guy works at Spirit of Aloha at the Poly, another is at The American Adventure at Epcot, the other two are at Adventureland Merchandise and Custodial, and of course I'm at Bus Greeters.

Back to me at Bus Greeters. Up until my CP, I have never seen a bus greeter in my life and I had no idea what I would be doing. As I said before, it is a lot of fun. What happens is we are placed at the resorts and are usually there between 8am and 1:30pm. We staff all the resorts except Pop Century, the Poly, and Contemporary. We staff the resorts based on the priority. I don’t remember exactly what order we staff the resorts, but there will always be Bus Greeters at the Saratoga Springs and Grandstand. After that, the next priority will be the Grand Flo, and I think the AK Lodge after that…then Barbados at Caribbean Beach. Again, I don’t remember what the exact order is for staffing priority.

So while we are at the bus stops we have a few jobs we have to do. We keep track of the bus intervals…the bus #, the time it arrived, and its destination. If they are running behind, we radio in to our coordinator. We also do crowd control when necessary like when a driver has to load an ECV or wheelchair. We also entertain the guests while they are waiting for their bus. So if you are ever at a resort bus stop and you see one of us, we’re there to help pass the time by while you are waiting for your bus.

So I’m having a lot of fun down here. I still want to get into Monorails some day. But I’ll just hang tight for now because I absolutely believe that things happen for a reason. More to come (including some SGT’s), so stay tuned!

Have a magical day!

Yours,
Monorail_Red :)
