Hey everybody, it's bru

i've got the magnification up way high here but am still basically typing without seeing much so forgive me any typos I can't see okay?

I'm thankful to my husband for keeping you all updated as I have been restricted from reading/using the computer and it would be/is painful anyway to try to do so for more than a few minutes even if I keep my left eye closed. with teh IOL banging around inside up against my iris it's causing a lot of pain at the moment and i can't wait to get it taken back out. it's sad because the double vision has almost cleared and if the lens was stable i'm sure i'd have better vision once i got regular glasses than i've had in years.

i'm tentatively scheduled for the second surgery this thursday. I have to go for another check up wednesday if i can stay out of hte office that long- i was in there every day but one last week with all the complications and it's a ways from here so it was exhausting for everyone. poor hubby has done nothing but shuttle me around and pick up drops and such from the pharmacy he deserves a medal.

i'm not sure what kind of vision i'll have once the lens is gone but as long as the cornea holds up and the retina stays where it's supposed to - so far so good- they should be able to restore some vision to me with either special contact lenses and progressive glasses or at worst the big huge aphakia glasses that make you look like a cartoon character.

since i already basically am one (as you all know) i have no reluctance to look the part.

seriously though, i'm so far beyond vanity at this point i don't care what they look like if i can see something- anything.

so that's the update. i have to go as my eyes are killing me the right one has been sore the whole time even though they didn't work on it (though the resident who assisted with the surgery did lean against my right eye while he was stitching up the left- i was awake enough the whole surgery and it took more than an hour and a half, i remember the whole thing). i'm hoping that won't happen the second time.

thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your well wishes- hubby read them to me as they came in and they helped keep my spirits up.

and thank you for giving Mr Bru such a warm welcome. I'll have to get him to sign up a username for himself, he's enjoyed reading around the boards while he's been here to post about me.

Dear Bru, I am so sorry for all your pain and discomfort. I'll pray for wisdom for the doctors and that everything turns out well so that you can SEE again!

Hi guys it's me!

First of all thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers and well wishes, I feel warm every time I read your posts. Thank you so much.

Just got home from the doctor after a loooong wait the past six days and the top minds at the U concur- the lens has to go. So tomorrow I go back in and then we start getting me all healed up and then see about exterior correction.

The really sick part? If I tilt my head to the right and the lens moves a bit, vision today tested at 20/80 in that eye. Can you BELIEVE it? I can't believe it. They all said it's such a shame that the iridodenesis is making the lens unstable. It moves now ALL the time, even just from blood circulating through the eye, even if I'm not blinking it's driving me crazy.

Well, at least we know now when it's time to do the right eye not to bother with the implant, so that should be a much less complicated thing...but first, the left eye has to be finished up.

I'll ask my better half to pust an update after it's all over.

Keep good thoughts for me? I hope this doesn't have too many typos with this darn lens moving I can't see what I'm doing.
