glendalais's BIG Move (Part II)
Re: glendalais's BIG Move (Part II)
They now notify you of your CP roomies in advance now? Wow, things have changed in the last few years.
Good luck glendalais - I can imagine that's not an easy situation but better that you're open about it...and you may very well find it's not even an issue.

Yeah. If you want, you can sign up and do a roommate notification survey. This gives you 1 roomie in advance (or, if you have someone in mind, you can put their number in so you are guaranteed to room together).Ho-say wrote:They now notify you of your CP roomies in advance now? I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Oh, I'm very well aware on both a personal and professional level that Disney - both DLR and WDW, as well as elsewhere in the company - has a very large proportion of GLBT CMs compared to other like workplaces ;) , it was more the living together part that got me worried.
There doesn't seem to be a problem with it though, so crisis averted, lol.

For shipping stuff ahead of time.
You should know which housing area you will be in. Ask the CP people what is the address for the office at that housing complex. Send the stuff to yourself at that address, marked hold for arrival on {DATE}. Us UPS or something with a tracking number and schedule it to arrive about three business days before you get there. Bring a printout of the UPS tracking with you, showing when it arrived and who signed for it. Pick up the stuff when you check in..

Just an FYI, Fedex GROUND is cheaper, and more predictable. I have used it for both personal items when going on vacation, to sending large amounts of equipment cases for work, to myself, at various hotels. I even helped someone move a small amount (20 boxes) of household goods that way. cost less than 300.00 for halfway across the country!
Good luck!
Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I think I'll just wait and buy everything in Orlando for right now.
I realized that things are probably cheaper there than in Southern California, and WalMart does have their "Ship to Store" option.
Hey look, 500 posts :D: .

The only problem is, you don't find out which complex you'll be staying in until the day of check-in (and there are 3 different complexes that you could stay at).Cheshire Figment wrote:For shipping stuff ahead of time.

That had been true for the past few years, but I don't believe it will be true in future. The treehouses have undergone an extensive rehab -- basically they were replaced in total. They are now being sold as timeshares as part of Saratoga Springs.turkeyham wrote:I heard from a friend that the Disney Tree Houses which was a time share property is now being used for the college program? Then again, now that WDW is closing whole buildings at some of the moderates....
