I now own 4 shares of DIS, bought at $25.92. It's now at $25.44. Sigh.

DIS isn't a trading stock. Hold for the long term and enjoy the dividend.

I hope so since it lost over a dollar since I bought it. And with 4 stocks, I certainly didn't buy enough to trade meaningfully. :)

Results were just announced.

Revenue 4th quarter $9.45 B vs. 9.34 B forecast

EPS .43 vs. .49 forecast

Parks and Resorts revenues for the year increased 8% to $11.5 billion and segment operating income increased 11% to $1.9 billion. For the quarter, revenues increased 7% to $3.0 billion and segment operating income decreased 4% to $412 million. Operating income growth for the year was driven by increases at Disneyland Resort Paris and Walt Disney World Resort. For the quarter, lower operating income was driven by a decrease in domestic operations, partially offset by an increase at Disneyland Resort Paris.

Domestic Operations

For the year, operating income growth at Walt Disney World Resort was primarily due to increased guest spending and theme park attendance, partially offset by higher operating costs. Increased guest spending was due to higher average ticket prices, increased food and beverage spending and higher average daily hotel room rates. Higher operating costs were due to labor cost inflation, new guest offerings and volume-related costs.

For the quarter, decreased results in the domestic operations reflected higher costs, which included labor and other cost inflation at Walt Disney World Resort and higher fuel and drydock maintenance costs at Disney Cruise Line, partially offset by higher guest spending at Walt Disney World Resort.

For the last 11 years I have had $100 per month automatically invested in Disney Stock, and starting a few months after I started working I also set up for a 20% payroll deduction and all dividends reinvested.

As of the end of October I had about 635 shares with an average cost per share of $25.87. (Back in 1998 we sold 45 shares once.)

Good for you!!

Is this your only holding or do you have other equities? If Disney is your only holding it might be a good idea to diversify so your eggs aren't all in one basket.

It really doesn't count. Some day I'll do something about it.

The thing is I get my Federal Employee Retirement pension, the survivor benefit from Judy's Federal pension, a Red Cross Pension, Social Security, my private tax practice (with still about 20 clients), and of course my part time job at WDW. I also have a lot of money in the Federal Thrift Savings Plan (401(k) for Federal employees) which is 100% invested in Treasuries which I will have to hit in about three years.

Actually I only have one other major holding, Marriott, plus a few spin-offs.

I definitely am not wealthy, but have enough to live comfortably.
