My dream car is a Prius--even if I have to order it from the factory.

I live in Poinciana, and in my cell phone I have the following non-emergency numbers programmed:

Haines City Police
Kissimmee Police
Orange County Sheriff
Orlando Police
Osceola County Sheriff
Polk County Sheriff

If I see a vehicle parked in a handicap space I will do a quick check and if it does not have either a handicap plate or hang tag visible (including lying on the dashboard or even a seat) I will call it in to whichever jurisdiction it is in. The fine in Florida is $250 for a first offense.

One time several years ago when I lived in Virginia I saw a car had parked in the crosshatched area between two handicap spaces. I called the County Police and when I came out of a store about 20 minutes later the Police tow truck was hooking up to the car.

I did have one time a few years ago when I forgot to put up my hang tag at Downtown Disney and got a ticket. I checked with the court and was told if I sent a copy of my hang tag along with the ticket I would only have to pay $20 for not displaying the tag instead of the $250 for illegal parking.

I agree. Out here the San Diego PD has Retired volunteers patrol and hand out handicap parking violations!

They then took two large vans and parked them in the two adjacent spaces, very close to the lines, leaving the Civic less than an inch of slack front and back. Finally, they arranged car pools for the van owners so they would be able to leave them in place from Monday morning until Wednesday afternoon, or perhaps later if the Civic driver showed up and got bitchy.
Kind of a similar situation back in high school. I was working at a pizza place in a strip mall. One of my co-workers was a real a**. One night he was in rare form, and it was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

Three or four guys went out to the parking lot at the end of their shift (the jerk was working until close), picked up one of the shopping cart return corrals from the supermarket next door, and neatly placed it around his compact car. It left about 3" on either side of the car.

I never did hear how he got in his car that night... (I also seem to recall him quitting soon after)

I don't plan on ever using it, but out of curiosity -- how would they react to a non-CM calling them?

Probably very poorly, as that's not a public number.

If any of y'all should use it, be sure you have a real emergency to tell them about, and can accurately describe the location.

preimum gas required. and it has a really strange "auto" transmission. (No stick shift!)

and he says that when you drive on the freeway, its like a kids rocking horse, because the wheelbase is so short that it bounces back and forth due to they way the pavement slabs are seated!

Lucky he dosn't have to commute in it!

Those little things are taking over the Wash, DC area (where my dad lives). You can't spit without hitting one!

We recently went to the Newseum, and my dad asked the elevator operator how many Smart Cars could fit in it (jokingly, of course!). :D:

I thought about getting one for just around the area, I live very close to several shopping centers and so forth, but I am going to wait. DW wants another Explorer, and with prices falling, I might get a better deal!

The smart car dealer puts you on a waiting list here, and one guy I talked too said it was about a ten month wait! Guess they didn't realize the demand would be so high!
