Stupid Guest Tricks

Yesterday I posted how a cyberfriend of mine from another forum was hosting another from Australia when the quake hit--according to them, the other guests on the attraction thought the quake was part of the special effects! :D:

On the other forum, another person in Michigan said the media there called it a "massive earthquake"! Man, if a 5.4 is massive, what did they call the 6.7 Northridge or the 7.1 Hector Mine quakes?

I have behind me two steamer trunks and on the left is a bookcase so I was safe. It was a lot of fun until mom demanded I climb up and fix the curtain. Nothing like standing next to a window right after an earthquake while standig on a sofa. I watched the giant armoir box thing swaying. Purpura and CBeiley seen it before. Huge heavy thing swaying.

DD and I were waiting in the park yesterday when it hit. We were standing outside the opera house waiting for Mary Poppins to visit. Poor Bert was under the awning.

It was pretty scary. It made alot of noise. Thankfully DD was in her stroller and we got to the flagpole as quickly as possible.

I have said this to EVERYONE spoke to yesterday... I was thoroughly impressed with the response by the CM's yesterday. It was amazing. It seems like within maybe 3 minutes all the shops on Main Street were evac'd. I saw CM's instructing guests to stay off the sidewalks (away from buildings).

I admit I get really nervous in these types of situations. I went home almost immed.

I am an AP and we were going to leave around 12:30 anyway.. So maybe I way off base with this but...

Don't these complainers care about their safety? I am in no way saying Disneyland was not safe yesterday post quake...

But all I wanted to do was go home. It would not matter if I could only visit once a year. I wanted to get somewhere I felt safe. And while I applaud the practice of inspecting all the buildings and rides and agree that is the correct thing to do... The fact that something transpired that necessitates an evac and inspection... well that means I have to go home.

Call me a ninny.

I don't think you're a Ninny. The SG's don't get it.

If DW and I were there (we are also AP's) we would'nt think twice. hit the gate, get the trusty Grumpy mobile and head home! (or back to the hotel if we were staying at one) Because If I was going on any attraction after a quake, I would sure want them to inspect it! And they can't do in in just few minutes.

the SG's probably think that an inspection consists of just looking to see if the tracks/cars/etc are not bent too far off track!

Last night I was up late. I watched the news and around 12:30 a news report came in saying that there was an after shock of 3.0 in the Chino Hills area. In Seal Beach where I live, last night's quake was not felt out here. :)

I'd go find a bench under a shady tree and watch the SGs scurry about.

Yep. I'd stick around and use that time to force me to enjoy the surroundings. Then, when the SG's have left and the rides are inspected and re-opened, I'd enjoy the shorter lines :)

Welllllllll......It wasn't that big of a shake. I saw video of Disneyland of people just standing about, no panic. Rides were down for 3 hours. The SG's all ran to City Hall, I wouldn't be there. I did clarify IF THEY WEREN'T BUSY.

When this hit and everything gets shut down, do all or some of the attractions E-stop (automatically) (or do you or someone else E-stop them) and then do an evac of all riders currently riding or do you stop loading and allow riders already on the attraction (ride type) to cycle through to unload and then shut down once everyone is off?

It depends on the attraction and the severity of the earthquake. In some instances the quake will make the rides automatically e-stop, in others it won't. If it doesn't automatically e-stop then it depends on the nature of the ride if we manually e-stop or cycle out the guests. For example, if we e-stop Peter Pan, we can't get the guests off if it won't power back up, Disneyland Fire Department has to get them off so for that attraction, iirc, we cycle out, that way guests are not stuck up in the air panicked for who knows how long since DFD could possibly be busy for quite some time.
