Guest: "Yes...?"
Lead: "I'm someone who can make your day at Disneyland much shorter."
That is the greatest thing I have ever heard. Next to "We're done with you"...

I had heard that there were actually umty-leven versions of the show depending on which boats, devices, and effects were working. I know the WDW version has programmed routines for "Dragon Won't Rise" and "Dragon Won't Go Back Down" -- I've seen them both and marvelled at how smoothly things went.

Dosn't the original version have a "No Columbia" option? Image

Nope Zazu the whole Peter Pan scene HAS to be done from Columbia. And yes GMC only B and C towers.

Our Fantasmic! her in DL has a different version in case of certain conditions. It's not much of a change. For example if it had been raining, the fight between Peter Pan and Captain Hook just takes place on top, with no swinging of the ropes. In the finale, when they can not use the Mark Twain, they just dance around on the island.

There's gotta be some alternative for not using the mark twain (EDIT: COLUMBIA!!!). What happened in the late 90s when the columbia accident occured? Did the show get cancelled for months or did they somehow improvise?

There's your answer abc, and here's your sign (jk)

as for the show w/o the columbia, well let's just say i'd never go see it. face it, it isn't fantasmic!, unless they fire that cannon, and wet everyone's pantses.

I just had an idea!!! you know how we have a castle show, it would be soooo cool if we could also have an island show (for fireworks) on days when fantasmic! is down. That would probly kick my ass.

Polar,

When the dragon isn't working (won't go up, is shy, stuck in the bathroom, etc.) then we do the MALEFICENT DEATH SCENE!!! That's where Maleficent is left up at the top of the lift (33' above stage floor, more than 40' from where she starts below), and is spotlit when Mickey says, "ah, ah, YOU may think you're so powerful, but this is MY dream!" and let's Maleficent have it with his sword. Maleficent then thrashes around as tho mortally wounded, finally 'falling' over in a death slump. Since Maleficent is inside of a steel cage (which both protects the performer and helps to give the costume drape some more body), you can't slump to far. It's a real kick to do the death scene, tho I've only had to do it once.

When the dragon doesn't come down, well then they just black out the stage and hope that the audience will focus on the finale (Mark Twain) and not on the stage. If they ever had the dragon stick on stage when they were doing the stage finale (i.e. no Mark Twain), I don't know what they did.
