I eat Subway all the time. On my way in I'll normally grab a foot long. I'll eat half then and the other half on my break. The day the cafeteria was closed for a while due to the flooding I couldn't do that so had to make do with the chips I brought, it was either that or eat vending machine fare.
Sarah Magdalene wrote:I too may grab my food on stage and bring it back to the break room with me. I pull on my "civilian" clothes over my leotard and just go out. In Characters Spot, friends like to go grab something from Electric Umbrella and eat with the rest of the CMs.
The other day I was working Uptown Pins when I saw this girl in there wearing black pants and a gray shirt with a piece of duct tape on it. I had a feeling what the tape was for and when I asked her I was right. She's a friend of the characters and used the tape to cover the barcode on her shirt so she could come onstage in her basics.

There's no way for me to grab food onstage sadly. Brown pants, suspenders, and a dress shirt are quite noticeably part of a costume even if I do take off the vest and tie. There's not a lot of food selection on MS anyway.

Sometimes it just isn't fair.
CMGUY I managed to find the thread where I told the story originally- http://www.stupidguesttricks.com/showthread.php?t=2907 there you go!

Wow, that's pretty awful. The sad thing is I have no idea who that was. Usually I can tell from stories but that describes A LOT of people at Soarin'. I'm sorry. If I had been greeter (shameless plug ;) ) I would have been like "You're good! You can head inside now, thanks for waiting so patiently!!!"

I love Soarin'...

Someday I'll be there and I will backdoor your family ;)

LOL tyvm! I know what you mean but somehow that just sounds funny to me.

Believe me we're perfectly fine with waiting our turn I am so glad the newer queues are accessible.

I hope you get to work over there soon! Sounds like they could use a breath of fresh air.

Hey, if you PM me where you're going to be working in the next week or so, I'll try to roll on by to say a discreet hello while we're at the Land! :)

I am so glad I had my first CP after that stopped. I enjoy being able to take home my costume (all except Character attendant, unless that has changed?).
CMGUY89 wrote:That is the good thing about the land costume. If we remove the green polo and have an undershirt or put a jacket over the shirt all you can see is the khaki shorts/pants which makes it easy to go onstage to buy something from sunshine seasons. Soarin' can't do that! HAHA!
Same for the Character attendant pants.
bpgstudios wrote:My guess as to why you could get lunch at Sunshines is because of the location. Your cast cafeteria is on the other side of the park, whereas ours is located right below us. I would love to have village haus pizza for lunch instead of that ARAMARK crappy pizza. Subway has become my diet.
Yeah, it can get pretty boring there.

When I trained Fland in 04, we wore a generic costume for our first day of Fland training and did ride the rides in that costume. Whenever we went through our actual ride training, we also rode the rides in costume. We did not use the regular entrance though. We normally came up the exit. We did this at the beginning so we could experience the ride and at the end so we could prove we knew certain things about the ride.

As a friend of characters, I would eat at Pizzafari all the time whenever I was at Island Mercantile. I would also go up into MK between parades. It was easy to keep civilian clothes and change into them, plus our lunch is considered off the clock.

Hasn't changed. My brother has to pick up his costume from the area he's working in that day's costuming department (he's a seasonal Character Attendant).

Rats! I had heard they were thinking about changing it.

I doubt they will because it would be a logistical nightmare. You see, as long as you check out the costumes at the beginning of each day you get walk time. As soon as you go to cast zooming, you lose your walk time (one reason many people don't want it to go to cast zooming. This would create all kinds of problems. The characters always have and always will have to have walk time. Your day ends when the characters get off set. So, they would have to change your out time by at least twenty minutes. There would bea riot over this. There is no good way to eliminate walk time for one group without eliminating it for the other.
