Re: Beam Me Up, Mickey!
I'm into Science Fiction, and have been for almost 60 years. However, I'm not into "fandom".
I have a copy of the paperback book of the first Star Trek Movie. In it I have my souvenir ticket stub from the World Premiere as well as on the inside front and back covers, the autographs of Gene Rodenberry and all eleven of the stars of the movie. I wonder if it has any value. BTW, the reception after the movie was held in The National Air and Space Museum and that is where I got all the autographs.
(One of my tax clients was a music critic and general feature reporter for the Style section of The Washington Post. He had just been audited by IRS and there were no changes. He was covering the Premiere as a social event and invited me along as his "assistant and technical adviser" so the Post paid for my ticket.)

Has anyone been to the Star Trek Experience at the LV Hilton?
Thoughts and comments greatly appreciated, I might do it next week.

I haven't been there but my sister and my in laws have both gone and they had a good time. It's not Disney World of course. . .I'd love to go into Quark's bar in full costume and stir up some fun with the locals! Someday I'm going to do that. . .Near Philly wrote:Has anyone been to the Star Trek Experience at the LV Hilton?

CF- my guess on the book would be yes, some trekkie out there would pay for it to get Roddenberry's sig not to mention the others! Your mileage may vary though it's hard to know exactly what memorabilia is worth anymore. . .
Love the tattoo!
Dudes I need more coffee I'm tossing out random answers without any names attached- sloppy, so sorry!
I forgot to welcome the Star Wars fans into this thread too- when I was six and the first (or should I say fourth *lol) installment came out- I wanted to be the first girl Jedi on my block. . .
Discuss LOL

Well, as to the Hilton Star Trek Experience, it's something every Trekkie has to do at least once. I mean there's real life Klingons and Ferengi and even Borg running around. Also, at Quark's Bar, you have to have a Warp Core Breach (for those that drink) It's served over dry ice so it's all smoky and stuff...it's a drink that is designed to be shared, they have two different sizes depending on how many will be sharing it. It's served in a big bowl with straws and essentially tastes like an Otter Pop, but it has alcohol in it. :)
I'm horrible at linking, but everyone here should go to You Tube and search 'Leonard Nimoy hobbit' It's hilarious.
One of my first memories is waiting in line for Star Wars episode IV, I don't know why I remember it so well I was only 2 1/2 but I remember it. I played with all of the Star Wars toys, I even had the Millennium Falcon.

You tell 'em. Young whipper snappers.
You ain't lived until you are waiting in a line that wraps around the city block, twice for your third viewing of (the first) Star Wars. That long a line ment that it would be at least two showings before you got in. And this is a theatre with a 12,000 capacity (back when they were a single screen to a theatre and so that wait could be upwards or 4 hours BEFORE getting in to the theatre for your showing).
I had finshed school and had a night job so I could stand all day in line.

I once made up a song about Reavers I think... Let me see if I can find it. *giggle*
Instead of :
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...
I Wrote:
Take My body, take my soul
Into space to feed is my goal
Hey is that a space ship? C'mere you your ribs I'll strip
Your skin is good with a dip
Take you out to my oven
Tell my captain Dinner's comin'
Burn the flesh and boil the blood
Your screams will come in a flood.
Have hunger deep I be insane
Your nightmare dear dear Jayne
But your hide will look good on me.
If I ever went to a Convention, and could work a She-Reaver costume up I'd want to sing that to Adam Baldwin... He'd probably Freak out Heehee.
