I was told by my doctor- if I get another round of the chicken pox it can be dangerous. I have seen the kids not happy and scratching. Chicken pox to my knowledge can last up to 3 weeks max. Getting their illness is not fun.
No it's not and it could have cost the life of my unborn child- or given her birth defects that last a lifetime. I was very lucky.

But make no mistake having pox at 24 was an absolute nightmare. I don't know when I've ever felt that horrible in my life and I've been through some stuff!

Saw another post tonight somewhere about a family that was all sick at night but they were literally cramming medication into their kid and dragging him to the park the next day! I wonder how many other people they spread that stomach bug to?

I've also seen so many posts where people flat out lie when asked before boarding a cruise ship if anyone in their party has had norwalk like symptoms the 48 hours before. I can't believe that people just seem to have no concern at all for not only how miserable their kids are but how sick they make everyone around them.

With as many MAW kids as are at WDW too- them being exposed to stuff like that is never good either :(

p.s. they are saying lately that your immunity to chicken pox wears off over time. I had them when I was 2 and then again at 24. My doctor told me that after 20 years it can be open season all over again. Then. . .not to mention that people can get it as shingles. . .especially the elderly and those with compromised immune systems!

If I saw a kid show up for a flight in a hoodie and with make up on (believe me, unless you use the stuff from funeral homes I don't know how they'd hide a bad case of pox!) I'd be at the gate throwing a livid fit.

Mental note: Buy hand sanitizer before trip and use frequently while in the parks.

Another mental note: Buy hand sanitizer by the truck load when I become a CM.

Maybe a truck load of flesh colored latex gloves and a bio hazzard face mask.

Come to think of it I have heard that they now make spray on latex (actually it is supposedly a "spray on condom") that you could use to make your own gloves. :D:

No, I think I'll go all out and use a biohazard suit. Gloves and mask just aren't worth the trouble with the little protection they supply.

I remember when we got trained in them, one of the comments was that if you really do come in contact with the nasties, the gloves and mask will help in identifying you later!!

I can't explain it, but I don't think that would turn many heads if SGs saw a cast member walking around in a full bio-hazard suit. "It must be some costume for something we haven't seen yet."

On the other hand it might make for some interresting double takes if the CM in question was working the line or the front end of the kitchen in a counter service food location. :D:

Last year on our Disney cruise to the Bahamas, we were docked next to another cruise ship at the port in Nassau, and several people we saw on deck on the other ship were wearing those paper masks over their noses and mouths. We were wondering if they'd had an outbreak of norovirus. Or maybe they were trying NOT to have an outbreak. Disney is very good at providing hand wipes at the entrance to all their restaurants and other public places.
