Only just before the 4th of July and New Years and legally they can only set off on those days. Also, only certain types of fireworks are legal, for instance anything that launches (bottle rockets, roman candles, etc.) is illegal.
The problem with this area is that the Alabama state line is not that far and they have almost no restrictions on what kind of fireworks can be sold nor when they can be sold. Right on the other side of the line on most every highway that crosses the line there are fireworks stores of all kinds which I know cater mostly to Florida residents this time of year.
This area is has a large population of ignorant rednecks that just love to shoot off all kinds of illegals around the 4th and New Years with no concern to anybody else's safety or comfort.
I'll admit I've set off illegals before a few years back that my brother got but we went out to a very large paved field (an old airfield or something) that was away from people to set them off so we wouldn't bother people trying to sleep and minimize the chance of fire. We didn't set them off in neighborhoods nor was it really late at night.

Thanks..I did a cross country drive from San Diego to Boston and back last year, And I noticed on some states, when you would cross the state line, ALL kinds of fireworks for sale, I figured thats what it is, adjacent states with conflicting fireworks laws. Was tempted, but didn't have the time!!
Havn't been driving in Flordia for a while, and near a holiday, so I wouldn't have seen the stores.

Sounds like Hawaii except you'd substitute local for redneck and smuggled in for Alabama.

Are you sure those are state-wide laws for FL, and not County? Up in St. Augustine, I've seen people setting off all kinds of things (the good stuff that launches) all year round. Everyone we spoke to said they're completely legal so long as you're using them safely and we never saw anyone get hassled by cops about it. Also, there's a big place to buy fireworks between Jacksonville and St. Augustine... Just my experience, for what it's worth...

Mmmmm, pardon my ignorance in posting pictures to this board. Is there a technical place I can go read how to do it, or does somebody want to give me a quickie crash course?

I have the pix on my hard drive.
Thanks. And I'm going to bed now so will check tomorrow a.m.

Do you have a Photobucket account? If not you can send it to me and I can send it to photobucket, then give you a link!

I've always heard they were and according to GP's links they are, at least the types allowed. I can't find anything right now about limits on when they are allowed and don't have time to look until later.

We have basically the same problem here. Fireworks in Colorado=illegal, fireworks in Wyoming=legal. You wanna know how many rednecks here go to Wyoming to get their armaments. All of em. Especially the jag that lives right below us at the bottom of our property and he looooooooves to shoot those sky fireworks right over the top of our house. Every friggen 4th of July and New years, but interestingly enough they were not out this year. It was -4 and I think they were either partying somewhere else this year or too damn cold to shoot the suckers off. It was peceful for once. There are so many really rich entitled people in this neighborhood that have lots of expendable income and almost all of em shoot of fireworks shows over the neighborhood every Fourth of July. We are in the wrong neighborhood. We really thought that these would be people with money who had some sense and it was a nice quiet neighborhood. Not a chance. A bunch of nouveau riche who want to show off their nouveau richeness with all the toys, fireworks, ATVs, scooters and all the Hummers on the car lot! What a joke. We GOT to get out of here. I am going insane with the mentality of the neighborhood. Even the jag next door who is a lawyer and a HOA Board member shot off sky fireworks on the fourth last year right out in front of all our house. What a doofus. He does it this year, I am calling the cops and voting to have him removed from the Board for breaking the law and the HOA rules. I am surrounded by idiots! I HAVE to move to Florida! PLease God, let someone buy my house soon!!!!!!
I hate it here. This friggen mansion is a prison. I want to be freeeeeeeee! We are definitely DOWNSIZING and getting rif of most of our stuff when we move. Not the Disney stuff, the other stuff. LOL! I would never get rid of my humongus Disney Memorabilia collection. Our boxes should be arriving today from DL! We spent way too much money again this trip, thousands on lots and lots of Disney swag and Christmas presents for the family! Lots and lotds of stuff, pins, plushies, jewelry, collectible figurines and cool Disneyana brionze staues and even a Disneyland Hotel bedspread! They finally had enough extras to sell us one. I am so happy about that! My favorite! I will take a pic of it and post!~ I have wanted one of those bedspreads forever. It has Disney scenes on it. Very cool. It will make me think I am in the Hotel, while never leaving home. I will decorate my room just like the DL Hotel rooms. That's what I'll do. Then I can live Disney everyday! YAY! And I will go to Wyoming and buy sky rockets and have a Disneyland type fireworks show over my house! That will teach those rednecks who has better fireworks and that they need to work harder to keep up with the Joneses! Mwahahaha! ;) Just kidding of course!
