Well, that hotel would want to take them? I hope that WDW has an "alert" method incase they just try to go to another one!! Or does security escort them off property?

It's not limited to resorts. A bypass road around Lahaina should have been almost done by now but someone found bones. Too bad they weren't from K Fried.

I guess they don't look at how much tourist industry that Disney would bring? or they probably don't care!!

Over all it probably won't be much compared to the total take now seen. Some islands are now starting to realize it's time to stop the building of resorts. Water usage is getting close to max water available, infrastructure is well beyond being maxed out with no relief in sight. The traffic jams every afternoon in Lahaina rival the ones I'd pedal past on the Mainland.

Maui has now passed a law that says developers have to prove they have a source of water before they're allowed to build. That may dramatically slow new developments.

WOW. I had to go there for work a few times, they put us up in the Hilton!! Co-workers wanted to do the submarine but we didn't have time! I know that the tourist industry took a few hits there but then the ecomomy has bounced back, obviously!!

Some co-workers here in San Diego had bought some property there over 20 years ago, and were going to build a "retirement" home, but when they started to try and get permits, etc, they finally gave up. sold the property, don't remember where they said it was, but they did say they got a good price. They have since retired and stayed in the San Diego area. probably a good idea with all the problems that seem to be starting up there!

There's lots of property for sale currently. There's a new development over the hill from me that sold out immediately to flippers. Funny thing is just after they bought, the finance/housing bubble popped. Now they're stuck with the payments and $800 per month association dues. Some lots are now on the market for under purchase price.

Permits are another deal. If you're in a planned development they're usually not a problem. If you're on agriculture land or along the beaches you could be in for a long fight.
