Some video cameras are even sensitive enough to be able to pick them up as glowing white sources of light. I've seen a video from on-board Tower of Terror, and as the car is pulling into the drop shaft (in the dark), you can see the large bank of IR lights above where the car will be sitting in the shaft, illuminating the interior of the car for the security camera.

To the CMs, a handheld IR source like the one described would look to them like someone shining a flashlight around.

Yeah, I thought about that after posting. I think it could be distracting. "Ugh, SG using flash on...oh hey, what is THAT guy doing, that is kinda cool..."

I mean, look at the ADD going on this board, if that holds true with other CM's....

I worked at Muppet Vision 4*D at Disney MGM Studios for five years. I was always amazed at the stupid people who took pictures of the screen of a 3D movie! Even more amazing was the idea that if you filmed it with your run of the mill video camera (in the days before digital) and stole the 3D glasses, you'd have a 3D movie when you got home. What you'd have would be a blurry film (mostly of the back of the head of the guy in front of you) and a pair of useless glasses!

I hadn't heard the stolen glasses side of this, but I'm not surprised at that bit of stupidity.

I have seen a few videos of the films. And NO ONE can seem to figure out that if you're going to film it, put one side of the glasses over the lens of your video camera! That way you get just one "side" of the film, and no more double images. Seems pretty obvious to me.

I always have a problem with those movies that I see the double image in one eye... faintly, so I get to a point where I stop thinking about it, but it still bugs me a bit. Looking with my right eye, it's fine, but I have a ghost image in my left. Does anyone else have this problem?

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

That's one of the reasons I love digtal. For some reason, my "photo safaris" never ended exactly at the end of a roll. So I would always have a few photos on the roll untill I had another photo opportunity. The worst was when on the beginning of a roll I had photos of my new neice, just home from the maternity ward, and the end of the same roll had photos of that same neice at her 15th birthday.

Now if I go out and shoot 3 photos I can save, view and use them without waiting to shoot the rest of the roll, or wasting the rest of the roll in pointless shots or developing unexposed film. The funny thing is that now that I don't worry about how many shots are left I tend to shoot LOTS more shots. I am already estimating my upcoming WDW vacation will use up 2-3000 images.

Otherwise, just buy an IR spot light like the military uses, those things are awesome :)
This small tool wouldn't give trouble to a night goggle using CM as it would only look through the goggles as a bright square. The only effect would be the camera that is pointed at (and pointed in return by) the LED array.

As to the IR spot, it requires a lot more energy as IR does not bounce well off surfaces. Thus to make it powerful enough to act as a spotlight for IR goggle wearing persons, it has to put out a TON of IR light. That WOULD give night vision equipment a fit.

Unless you were like me and knew how to do it. :D: In the early years they didn't include video taping in the restrictions list so I got several videos of the 3d movies. I used a polarizing filter to cut out one "eye" and take a 2d film. But when they began including video in the speil I stopped. At least in that I followed the rules. :D:

I have that sort of problem with 3-D movies. Sometimes it really gives me headaches. But the newer Disney movies seem to cause less pain.

Managed to get two rides yesterday and four this morning, plus witnessed my first SGT. Some moron was taking FLASH PHOTOS!!! Yes, taking flash photos of an IMAX movie!!! The CM made an announcement for them to stop, and thankfully they obeyed, but it really ruined the ambiance of the ride. Idiots.
I need to come on here more often... But I just read this, and if the person who told them to stop was a girl, I was probably that person! They tell us not to go on the PA and tell them to stop, but it makes me soooooo mad, so I always do it, for flash photos and for video. But it kinda makes me smile if that was me.
