He's been looking forward to it all trip, and this is our last night!" I would still refuse, and then comes the, "Well THANK YOU for ruining our child's whole trip!!!" Most of the time I did feel sorry for the kids, but if I let them in, there'd be 50 right behind them wanting to get in line too... AND I'd be thinking, Okay, if Dumbo was SOOOOO important to your kid, maybe, just MAYBE you should have gotten here a little sooner than 2 minutes after closing on your last night here!!! Real smart, and then they want to blame me.
Since we rarely have dumbo greeter up (I've only seen it on new years and 4th of july times) we either get a coordinator or someone tasking to close the line for dumbo. I like to hand out as many boarding passes as I can to the line so i can make sure there are no line jumpers in there. I've heard a story about a CM that noticed a line jumper and didn't say anything to her. When she got to the turnstyle, he just locked it, told her we were closed, and powered down dumbo  . I've had people come up the exit just before we sent the last ride (which is rarely full) asking if they could ride. Nope, sorry. But theres empty dumbos! Well you should have been here before we closed the line. We can't let anyone on through the exit.

Or gotten there any time DURING the day!!! And yet, they waited til the last minute to go on it. That is some pretty smart planning.

There was a lot of times on Astro that I was closing the line and I was the following it in and when I got to the turnstile, I locked it. I catch line jumpers jumping over the hand rails and I tell them that the ride is closed.

There was never a Dumbo greeter when I was there. I wasn't even trained on Dumbo when I would close it. I was only on the West side, and since we usually had more extra people at the end of the night (no more Ariels or Lion King) the managers would pull one or two of us from tasks to close dumbo. Actually, I think a few times, that WAS my task from the computer.

I also used to love yelling at the people, when there were fireworks at closing, that they'd have to stay in line, or they couldn't get back in. There'd always be someone saying, oh, we got out to watch the fireworks, let us back in. Nope, sorry... I TOLD YOU.

OH! I forgot, this one time, there were three of us closing the line, and I was following the line. I was turned around, and a group of people jumped the chains and got in line behind me. I guess they didn't notice the lovely green shorts or that I was a CM. I didnt' say anything, but let them follow me all the way to the ramp. When the last guests had gotten their boarding passes, I turned around and acted like I hadn't seen them. "Oh! I'm sorry, those were the last guests in line before the park closed." They just grumbled and walked away. It was really funny.

He has told me about an SG cussing him out in Spanish who he had escorted out of the park by security and a woman who after being told no by him hit her head on a light post on purpose and had a seizure. There's probably a bunch of other SGs he's dealt with he hasn't told me about.
Yeah, I work with the characters. Now, I am not complaining about the job- I love it a lot, and hope to go FT. But I have had some really bad guest experiences doing it. And I have been reported several times because the characters had to go at the end of the day, and the line was closed. I also had a bad experience involving a kid that in hindsight I probably should not have done, but I had no choice.

My brother seems to enjoy it. Yes, he gets some whoppers of stupid guests but that's to be expected. You guys are the ones who have to tell people that <character> has to leave for a while, which disapoints most and truly upsets some.

I wonder if you know my brother. I know there's a lot of attendants and the fact he doesn't work just MK lowers the chances even more but you might know him. I'll PM his name, I'm not going to post it on a public board.

I cannot believe some of the things that these SG's will do. Well, maybe I can...I have been to the parks enough to see these idiots in action. My heart goes out to all you CM's who have to deal with this day in and day out. You have more patience than I! I guess what I don't get is the people jumping over the chains that show a ride is *obviously closed* to try to ride, :sneaker: or the ones who pound on the door of the stores to be let in after they are locked for the night to get that *last* souvenir and then it is YOU that ruined their vacation because they were the dumba$$es who did not get there in time. :duh: It just boggles the mind. Now my brain hurts. :banghead: I need to lie down and stop thinking about all the A-holes who are going to be in the park during my next visit...I am usually the one with the big mouth and bravado who tell these geniuses EXACTLY where they can go and how they can get there. No, I can't say we start something with the SGs, though I would LIKE to sometimes... Actually, hubby and I usually will speak up in defense of a CM if we see a SG trying to foist their crap on them. It is our duty to protect those who make our day good by just being there and making us smile! A BIG HUG to all the CM's who have to put up with all the Crap!
You are TERRIFIC!!!!!! :bouncemic and WE LOVE YOU!!!! :love2: After all it is all of you who make the parks what they are!

I closed dumbo last night. The person I closed with closed the chain, yet we still had jumpers. I was so pissed because she let them ride! then others jumped over as well and we had to run dumbo an extra time before we can close. I was pissed. Yes I understand its 2am, but thats all the more reason not to let them. They had 17 hours to ride dumbo that day.
Then to top it off one of these families were pleading with me to go again! The only way to get them to leave was to actually power down!
