Sadly, yes, I think many SGs WOULD think it was cute. And if it was a flag with some special reverent meaning, like having flown in the president's office or draping a presidential casket or something, the cuteness factor in desecrating with with your kid would go up by 1000%.

Then maybe things like that should not be where the public can readily get at them.

Maybe they belong in museums where the conduct expected is different than WDW.

I thought the standard of behavior regarding barriers was the same at WDW and museums, i.e. respect them...please correct me if I am wrong and enlighten me as to the special "WDW Dumbed Down Barrier Expectations."

I think the standard of behavior is the same...

The expectation that the standard will upheld is very different.

I haven't traveled much, but I have been to a few museums including several branches of The Smithsonian... the people there acted very differently than I have seen people behave in DLR.

Out here in the real world not everyone acts the way they should. If the Seal of the president is that darn precious it should be behind glass and not where some stupid tourist can let his kid trample.

I don't think it's all that precious. It is simply a symbol. Nothing more.

Darn it, and here all these years I was thinking that the expectations for rule following were the same everywhere they have rules.
I can't believe I've spent my life needlessly heeding barriers, ropes, signs etc. at WDW without realizing that nobody really expects me to. You have freed me from my repressive viewpoint. Watch for me at WDW...I'll be the one smooching Johnny Depp in the last scene of the Pirates ride while my friends all snap flash photos.

See, this proves my point. The human race needs to hurry up and die so we can start over again.

I don't mean the whole thing, build an ark, grab a select few people (and I mean few) then flood it all.

And I think that a 3 foot high fence (not just ropes here, folks) should be enough that any idiot with a brain should think, "hmm.... maybe they don't want me or my kid walking here." Seriously, unless he has an IQ of 2, this guy knew this wasn't appropriate and wanted to see if he'd get away with it.

I just looked at the picture again and can see it is a fence not just a rope. Definitely not a mistake but a deliberate disregard of rules.

Hello to all CM's from the OP on the disboards whose son is in that pic. I am not here to defend my father for putting my son on the seal. I just want to give you all a bit of info.

#1 - My father put him inside there to be funny, was it funny to me and my wife? No it was not, but my son is cute and the picture of him is also cute. Did I think the picture was funny when I was there, no I did not but I have been home almost a month now and it will be a story that I will tell, with the tag line that security acted quickly and I would not want anyone to feel like my father felt after the incident.

#2 - My father was not trying to be disrespectful to the president. He, as well as I, is an avid lover of history and the great men that served our country in that high office. He merely was not thinking. Does that make him stupid, NO. My father is a great man and I will take up for him even during a momentary lack of judgement.

#3 - My father was not trying to be disrespectful to the CM's on duty. However he and I both feel that it was disrespectful to the jobs that CM's are hired to do, and he apologized to the CMs there.

#4 - I am not writing you to be flamed or to make you feel bad for some of your comments. You are entitled to have a place that you can vent your frustrations about us, the guests you have to deal with everyday. I cannot imagine what control it must take to look at a guest asking the question "what time does the 2:00 parade start" and not want to punch them directly in their faces.

Finally I want to thank you for your smiles that you had for my "STUPID" :D: family while we were on out trip. You made my daughters princess dreams come true and gave my son a chance to see Mickey face to face for the first time. Our children will only believe in magic for just a few short years and we as guest believe that we can prolong that in a place like WDW. And it is because of all the people who work on property that my daughter still believes that pixies fly and that the glass slipper will always fit!

SO please continue to vent on here, you need it and in a strange way we as the guest need you to vent somewhere too so that when we see you, all we will get is smiles!

Thanks

JEREMY HARPER

BTW I will be back at WDW on Thursday WITHOUT THE FUTURE PRESIDENT so please don't anyone jump out of the bushes and kill me or escort me out! I will be good I swear. Hope you all have a great night!!!

JH
