Year of a Million Problems
Re: Year of a Million Problems
Most of what I've observed over at Studios has been positive. Can't really think of any negatives that I've seen so far. Most of the guests that I've talked to that have "won" something (ears, lanyard, or fastpass mostly) thought it was really cool.
Wonder how those sitting around would feel if they knew that just about every winner I've talked to and asked told me they were selected on a ride or at the exit of the ride.
Did get one interesting thing yesterday. Was walking by one CM at the Poly looking at pins (yea, I'm pitiful, but at least I'm polite about it), and found one of the million dreams pins from the prize lanyard on the cast lanyard. Couldn't believe that someone had traded it away. So it's mine now.

What do you mean you won't smile for the camera?

Well from what I've heard a few of the stuff Dream Squad is doing at attraction exits might be dropped because people dont seem to like them. Most of the time everyone is so concerned with getting to the next ride that they dont want to be held up at the exit.
Plus, that would have to suck if you just exited a fastpass attraction after waiting in the standby line only to win the dream fastpass.
BTW, anyone know what would happen is someone won the dream fastpass an hour or two before park closing? Their only valid on the day issued right?

A NIGHTMARE! Out of fear of outing myself on how it affected me (and don't ask me for details) the new promotion SUCKS!APtink wrote:It's been about a week or so since the new celebration started. Has this become a dream or nightmare for you? Just curious, because I have seen alot of positive and negative feedback from guests on other boards. Would like to see opinions from the cm point of view.
So far all I have gotten from the supposed "backstage magic" is pizza and soda. I have a feeling the cast member "dreams" are few and far between.

You hit the nail on the head. The key word is SPONTANEOUSBirdMom wrote:I haven't spied too much negative (other than the crowds). I happened to be walking past a Tour Guide recently, who was stopped by some guests and listened to a portion of their conversation which went something like:
S.G. "So if we asked for it, could we get a Magical Moment?"
T.G. (looking somewhat abashed) "I don't think it would be a real Magical Moment if it weren't spontaneous..."
I'm sure that the same sort of greedy thinking is going to be behind any cornering of Dream Squad members for the next year: "I want MY dream to come true. I want the --- prize I read about NOW!"

Ironically, almost all the "Magical Moments" I know of are scheduled several times daily and are scripted. The only spontaneous moment is selecting the guest who participates.BirdMom wrote:"I don't think it would be a real Magical Moment if it weren't spontaneous..."

According to the Official Rules, prizes are only awarded between the hours of 9am and 5pm. I imagine the Dream Fastpasses are awarded earlier in the day, and the Dream Ears and Dream Lanyards are awarded later.bpgstudios wrote:BTW, anyone know what would happen is someone won the dream fastpass an hour or two before park closing? You got Pizza? Lucky...Wizard69 wrote:So far all I have gotten from the supposed "backstage magic" is pizza and soda. I have a feeling the cast member "dreams" are few and far between.
I think I read in Eyes and Ears that ONE CM a MONTH will win something "big" -- including trips to DLP and HKD, a night in Cinderella's Castle or Mickey's Penthouse, Cruises, etc. Each month the prize for the next month will be announced.

OK. here's my idea of YoMD. Mr.Iger proclaims " All CMs get $2.00/hr raise". Granted after taxes it wouldn't much, but a step in the right direction.
