This is why I wear a waist pack thingie (I refuse to call them the other name) LOL in the parks. I hate going back to a purse when we get home.

In fact, I confess, after our last trip I just shoved the whole pack into my purse and it remains there. I was joking I may just be able to pull it out and resume vacation mode for our upcoming trip LOL my brain refused to accept that our last trip was over.

It already happens for the most part around Disney. Pay increases and promotions to other hourly positions are based on pay scale agreements and seniority instead of individual merit.

Also, speaking of new ways to celebrate mediocrity, new hires in foods now get recognised and are presented a certificate for completing their first 90 days of employment.

Oh that irritates me soooo much!!! I have worked for Disney for less than a year and I have worked my ass off and they would not move me to another attraction because I am seasonal. I have had 12 great service fanatic cards, 3 guest letters, and picked up numerous extra shifts whenever coordinators asked. I finally told my managers that I was getting less and less inclined to come in whenever they ask me as I'm leaving at 1 AM to come in at 7:45 AM. I would do it with a smile and all I wanted was a little cross-training for another attraction and they wouldn't give it to me. But now, they are because I told them I was unhappy and considering transferring out of the area. But why does it have to come to me being in tears over work to get results? The Union. The shop steward in my area hates me because I am seasonal and can't be in the union. We go through just as much as CP's for only a little more pay and freedom. Yet I see people who are consistently rude to guests getting to work at great attractions just because they have been working for the company longer. How does that benefit the guests?

OMG! the only thing worse than a 60 pound kid cutting off my wheelchair in Hellies (spelling intentional) is a 200 pound galute pushing a stroller cutting off my wheelchair in Hellies!!!

And you know it Pirate, it won't be long before the suits start coming in then maybe Disney will HAVE to ban the idiot contraptions from the parks because legal will make them.

And how long until someone wearing them starts ripping off purses? :mad:

They already are banned. The problem is that it is hard to enforce the rules against them. After being told they aren't allowed the SG just goes around the corner and resumes skating.

I just wanted to commend February for using the term "Galoot," much used by Yosemite Sam, as most people cannot remember that far back when the term was common!!

Yes, she does. February, I am curious, do you have any English friends, or have you been there? For the same reason, I don't call them that. I was impressed, today, though. I was working a land position, mentioned how people hadn't packed any food, so they could use the termite mounds, and the driver had brought enough Vegemite for everyone. A guest knew what it was and that got us into a wonderful conversation for a few moments.

Yes Wallaby, I have got friends from the UK but that is part of the reason I won't use it. Mostly I won't say it because it sounds incredibly STUPID and if you wear it properly it never gets near that particular part of your anatomy LOL.

Far as 'that' word ;) I have no problem using other British swears; especially when comedically timed and in the proper accent- (and never in front of children. Especially not English children) a'la Patsie and/or Edina from AbFab . . . make mummy some cofffeeeee dahhhlinggggggg. . .

and thanks Pirate, too bad I got the term right but spelled it wrong! LOL Shame on me. I'm usually so much more Merriam-Webster than that *hanging head in shame* Galoot. I knew that.

I find it interesting that we use so many British terms... Stroller parking is Pram, the place where you get off the truck is called Cheers. I wish we expressed more of that "British heritage" that our attraction is supposed to reflect. Of course, at the same time, I have to listen to one bad attempt at an accent all day, I don't care to listen to everyone try to fake a London (or worse, a Northern) accent.

However, with my diction, I have been asked what part of England I was from, by a bloke from England who truly thought I was.

But when I get a land position, I am happy to stand there, interact and watch the birds. :D:
