Reminds me of what happened after Hurricane Ivan back in 2004 (4 years, wow, doesn't feel that long ago). Pretty much everything on Santa Rosa Island was wiped out. A number of expensive homes were completely demolished by the storm (hell, a few wound up washed into Santa Rosa Sound). I had zero sympathy for the people out there losing their homes. Santa Rosa Island is a barrier island, it was designed by God (or Mother Nature, or whoever) to take the brunt of storms and be destroyed by those storms.
They chose to build on an island where chances are if a storm comes through their house would be at least heavily damaged and probably destroyed. It's their own damn fault their houses got destroyed, it is nearly impossible to design and build a house that'll withstand a direct hit from a Category 4 storm on a low-lying island right in the direct path of the storm surge. This is a known fact yet people still build out there.

Montecito up in Santa Barbara area was devastated. Rob Lowe is famous for saving his neighbor's life. Lots of celebrities up there. The roads are very narrow and winding. One tree downed by winds and there is no way for the fire crews to get up there which is basically what happened.

Sylmar is the other bad area for fires right now,

Too bad for reverend jim. The news was saying that several other celebrities have either lost their homes, or they had to evacuate. Hope they all are okay!

Oprah has a house there too, but I've heard the fire hasn't gotten close to Neverland.

yeah, I wish they would at least put a small map with the reports on various news sites. DW has to go to Ontario for a meeting/training session (I get to go!, I'm going to sneak down to DLR during the day..heheheheheheh)

You should be fine....Sylmar fire blowing west toward Granada Hills, 5/14/210 freeways closed from 126 south to 118 areas, nowhere near Ontario and DLR...Have fun Grumpy :)
Neverland up in Santa Ynez valley, not near Montecito...I heard MJ had to hand over the title.
