Christmas Tree was not up today. For those CMs who missed the very fine, dignified, tearful Veteran's Day Flag Retreat Ceremony Tuesday - you all missed a great part of D L history. Flag Retreat was like none other!! The Color Guard was spectacular! The 4, yes 4 D L Security Officers gave pride & honor to D L as they stepped out & made not one mistake during the entire ceremony attended by over 400. Leave it to Security Officer Ernie to prepare events & present perfection! I was so proud of all in D L Security because they honored the Veterans with their hearts & souls. As a side note.... Ernie was told of a Veteran at the ceremony who had been a D L Security Officer years ago. He was so thrilled to meet the gentleman - then he was told this Veteran had been awarded The Purple Heart by Eisenhower. Nothing could have been better!! Pics were taken until they had to be escorted, due to parade, backstage where there was a small party for all Veterans & their families. Can't wait for my CD of the entire ceremony.Purpura wrote:I think the tree is up, but I'll have to check when I get to work. Yesterday was Veteran's Day and there were a lot of Veterans being honored at the Flag Retreat ceremony.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

O C is as bad firewise as San Diego. Our Santanas create conditions which are more severe than in most of Ca. As for the prices & sq. footage in O C, well, be prepared for way beyond Santa Cruz. O C is no sleepy orange grove bedroom cummunity. The O C beach properties are unbelievable! Good luck suz!GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:they ended up getting a settlement from the insurance and moved to orange county (up the coast a bit) Thats the hazzard of San Diego, people don't realize its a desert by its climate.

There are some nice homes in Temecula and prices have gone way down. In San Diego, check Alpine. You can get some land there too. That's what we So Californians call a backyard! Haa

We LOVE Ernie, he was so kind and respectful to my FIL who had fought in the Korean War and was part of the "Frozen Chosin", a horrible part of the battle. The ceremony that day moved us all to tears, we'll never forget it.

If SGT ever needs a new logo...

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.
