Hey I AM still around. Just have not been posting very much lately. Life is the same boring shit it always is here in the Mile High City. I wish that real estate would turn around so we could move to California or Florida.

Looked at Santa Cruz properties... ARE YOU SHITTING ME???? 2.5 mil for a 3000 sq ft home?????

We paid 1 mil for a 6000 sq ft home here. It is gonna be real tuff getting back to reality. I cannot believe the prices of homes in the Santa Cruz area. Oh well, that area may be off our short list. And I have a possible job there too! In a Veterinarian's office, maybe! :(

Oh well, we need to start looking at So Cal areas like Norco or out of Orange County and also back in Florida, around the WDW area. Prices are lower there than anywhere in California, pretty much.

We are NOT paying 2.5 mil for a house. We want to downsize, but if we have to pay that much for 3000 sq ft, we are gonna have to live in a mobile home. NOT! That would probably cost 1 mil in So Cal. I did hear of one trailer in Malibu that was 1 million to buy. Paying for the locale, not the crappy metal home.

Oh well, at least we do have a roof over our heads. We are blessed to have that. I am grateful for that. Just hate where it is. Maybe I should move my house out to California on a couple of trucks and just buy a piece of property to plop it down on.

There is an idea! I know they can move houses. They would have to saw ours in half to move it on semi's. And thay would have to leave the basement , so that would make the house just about the right sq footage without that whole basement area. heeheehee. There is an idea whose time has come! Cept I want a mediterranean style home not a Craftsman style like ours is. Soooooo....we will keep looking for that home that we can afford and that has what we need.

How bout San Diego, Grumpy? Is that a good place to look? My mom says we should consider Insane Diego. Should we? I may be able to score a job at the Wild Animal Park or Zoo if I can get in there. That would be great! Even working with shelter animals would be great!

Oh well, back to look out my window at all brown. No snow yet this year. Getting late in the year too. The latest snow on record was November 22nd. We may beat that if this warm weather keeps up.

I would not mind a nice little snowfall. At least it is prettier than brown, brown and more brown. Trees have no leaves, the lawns are all brown and we had a really dry Summer, no rain or precip at all. So we need Snow NOW!

The greater LA area is being hit pretty hard with foreclosures. Start reading the on-line LA Times to get a better picture. http://www.latimes.com/

Also get hooked up with a service that identifies homes that are in trouble but not yet in foreclosure. Some owners are smart enough to bail before their credit rating gets destroyed and are willing to take a low price to be free of the property. It's called short selling and is becoming more and more popular.

I think the tree is up, but I'll have to check when I get to work. Yesterday was Veteran's Day and there were a lot of Veterans being honored at the Flag Retreat ceremony.

Hmmmmmm, Susi, Maybe check into the SFV (Chatsworth area maybe, there is a beautiful area with large properties for enough square footage, Norco area is probably same climate)....otherwise near the beach in San Diego or Ventura counties....Hobie is right, lots of foreclosures everywhere, so you may be able to find something for a lot less than it would have been previously....

Well, San Diego might be a bit better, but if you insist on being able to see water, you are talking 1M and up! (for less that 2500SF there are some great homes inland, that have 4,000 SF and up, for about the same price.

Years ago I was being recruited by Qualcomm in San Diego. My wife gave me a list of properties to check out while I was there for interviews. Most of them were north of San Diego along I-15.

I flew down a day early and went house hunting. I found some nice places but man was it hot. I got back to the hotel about 5 PM, called my wife and turned on the local news. I'm talking to her and all of a sudden a story comes on about a wild fire threatening hundreds of homes. It took a few seconds before I realized the fire was right in the middle of the new homes I'd just looked at.

I told my wife about what I was watching and said if I got an offer we were living along the coast. I ended up staying in the Valley.

Yep, things happen!!

A friend of DW lost her house in one of the fires. she and her husband were living in the east county on a private road on a hillside. The offical in charge refused to let the fire crew go up the road. the three houses all burned.

they ended up getting a settlement from the insurance and moved to orange county (up the coast a bit) Thats the hazzard of San Diego, people don't realize its a desert by its climate.
