Mmmmmmm, morphine!!
Sorry, only time I ever had drugs like that is when I got burned very bad with an exploding radiator in the desert. Drove myself to a little hospital and was on a gurney lying down, when a doctor gave me a very small dose, and the pain went away...And I got dizzy lying down!!
Woooo! Now I know why that stuff is dangerous!!

glad to hear all went well for you susi! i was holding my breath for you (i've had a tri-level cervical fusion [nah nah...none of that you guys...it means the neck) many years ago...dunno if it helped or not...nerve damage is nerve damage...and i've recently been told that the spurs are back (only on the right side this time) and that the disks that were replaced are now compressing (they do that over time...gee, no one bothered to tell me that at the time...so now i feel like i have ants crawling up and down BOTH arms)...
welcome to the generation of internal prosthetics...my son has one in his leg...well, he actually has 2...to replace the bones he lost to cancer...thank god he's still alive...the fact that he still has his own leg is amazing to me...
the original surgery was done nearly 20 yrs ago...he's had to have both pieces replaced (they failed after 15 yrs...3 yrs after they said they would probably need to be replaced)...but they should last forever now (at least that's what the doc said at the time)...
but once again, congratulations susi! i wish you many happy and pain free hours at both wdw and the happiest place on earth (that's disneyland ;) )[/font]

Hope you never need one!

Unfortunately that's what I was on. The best part was when the chest tube was removed and I was stitched up. I woke up at 1 AM feeling like I had a knife driven into my side. The nurse (MALE) came and told me to keep pushing the button. It still hurt like hell.
He said he'd make an adjustment to the pump. The next thing I knew it was morning and I felt great. I sat up and then stood up, got a little dizzy and laid back down and conked out.
I came to later and again felt great. Sat up, stood up, got dizzy, laid down and conked out.
Came to again with my wife standing by the bed. I told her I felt great and stood up. She called the nurse. The nurse (FEMALE!!!) showed up, took one look at the morphine pump, freaked out and yanked the IV out. Apparently I'd been stoned out of my mind for almost eight hours. Woooooooeeeeeeeeee!!!
They delayed my discharge for a day so I could recover.

Ummmm, sounds like he made the adjustments without an official order

Must be why female nurse was so upset....
BUT.....
Might be good to leave your iv in case you needed a little Narcan (reverses Narcotic)
Glad you made it thru! :)

He did it on the fly.
Getting off the morphine was fun. I couldn't figure out why I was puking and felt like crap. It couldn't have been that great hospital grub!
