Deliver me from Stupid People.

Called Walmart to find out if they got a special Hannah Montanna promotional giveaway in. Now granted, the giveaway is a pair of 3-D glasses to watch the movie that is going to be aired on Disney Channel later this month and I did ask if they had gotten the "hannah montanna 3-d glasses in yet" But before I got a chance to tell her they were a promotion, she connects me to the jewelery dept. OK, I guess that makes sense since glasses are in that dept. "Can I have the service desk"

LOL...it gets better......
I explain to the service desk what I am looking to see if they got in a specific Disney promotional giveaway and want whoever is in charge of their promotions for the store. (figured go to the top and save time) SIGH! I get a response of ....."are you wanting to promote something in the store?" UMMMMMMM...no! If I was in charge of a Disney promotion, I would not be living here in Podunkville. Yes I did say that to her. :D: "OH, well let me connect you to electronics since it is a movie" NOOOOO! Just put a manager on please. "ok, I will connect you to electronics" OH FOR HEAVENS SAKES!

Electronics get on the phone and I ask for the 4th time for what I am looking for. DUUUUUHHHHH! No clue what is going on (not their fault) "Can I please talk to a manager" Well at least this lady had the sense to page one to the phone. Phone picks up again and different lady. ANNNNNDDDD I explain yet again. OY!

This is the best response yet.....She did determine that they did have them in the back and when I asked her if it was possible to get a bunch for a party (legit..I need a bunch ) WAIT FOR IT>>>>>>>>>>>>
"Do you want to have a party here?"
Ok, by this time, I am tired of dealing with ditzy ppl and ask her back, "now why on earth would you think I would want to have a party at Walmart?" Even I am not that weird.

Finally the one intelligent woman gets on and says they are in the back office still and I can come up tomorrow and get what I need. GOOD LORD! 15 minutes just for that.
Sorry so long, wouldnt have made sense otherwise.

Well, I am off to the hospital tomorrow for the doctors to cut me open. It is a brutal surgery. They have a vascular surgeon cut me open on my left front abdomen and then he proceeds to move all my innards over to the right side! That takes about an hour. Then the spine doc removes all the disk matter and finds the painful area and does whatever he does to fix it, (like scrape out some arthritic bone spurs and the like), then places the artifucial disk in there and then the vascular guy comes back and moves all my organs and blood vessels back to the left side where they belong and he closes me up. Then it is off to recovery, then to my very own private room for 3-4 days. Then into a back brace (for 6 weeks) and home!

I need prayers from everyone that it goes well. I am scared and nervous and very anxious about this, but if it works, I will walk better. I may not get full 100% relief, I may only get 50% or 25%. If it does not work well enough, then they can always go in and remove the artificial disk and do a fusion. Soooooo....I am hoping for the best outcome, but prepared for whatever comes.

I will have Ralphie post updates here. He will just use my screen name, it is easier for him, he is not used to navigating Message Boards. I will make sure to tell him to update eveyone.

Oh Susi - no wonder you scared Stitch - that surgery does sound pretty rugged. However, those docs do it all the time and have had lots of practice. We'll all be keeping our fingers and toes crossed, and sending prayers your way, for a successful surgery and a quick and relatively pain-free recovery. Once everything heals I bet you will feel sooooo much better and able to get around again, maybe not like when you were a wild young thang, but better than now when you are in pain all the time.
We're looking forward to updates from Ralphie. I bet he is scared, too. Give him (and yourself) hugs from all of us. We love you!! Can't wait to see you back on SGT so you can tell us all about it. :crowd:

Susi,

You'll do great. Think positive thoughts. Your body will do much better if you go in with a good attitude. Oh yeah, don't sneeze until they take the sutures out. :D:

I was on the Jungle Cruise tram tonight. I stayed late in the park to get some good night shots of the castle and Main Street and got on the tram about 1:20 or so. The tram conductor made a number of corny Jungle Cruise like jokes on the way out to the lot. Approaching the stop I needed he made a crack about how if we enjoyed his jokes they were all original and if not he was made to say them. He said this in a way that is similar to how the JC skippers say their version at the end of the cruise.

When I get off I walk down towards the end of the tram (had to anyway to get to my car) and say "what is this, the Jungle Cruise tram?" and he replied "no, it's my tram!" in a joking way. One of the better tram rides I've had.

On a related note, got a bunch of good night shots of Cinderella Castle and Main Street tonight. I've been wanting to but most nights I don't feel like staying late enough to get the shots. It is nearly impossible to set up a tripod on Main Street from about 8:30 until after 11:30 or so because of the large crowds there for the parade at 9:00, Wishes at 10:00, and the parade again at 11:00. I have to use a tripod as I can't hold the camera still enough in my hands when shooting in twilight mode and its longer shutter time.

What kind of camera? You can try a gorilla pod:

Attach it to a fench, or put it on top of a trash can :)

A few year old Sony Cybershot and a basic tripod I got from Best Buy. Looks like it worked great looking at the shots on the camera, haven't pulled them up on my computer yet.

The gorilla pod looks cool but to get the best shots of the castle require you to be in the middle of Main Street, where there are no fences or trash cans and just isn't happening until late when the park is getting towards clear. For most of my shots the main people around were Cast Members, the majority of guests had already left and the few left were making their way down Main Street.
