That reenactment is insulting. I can understand how the reporters may not have seen it that way, but one would have at least hoped that they would hold off on doing something like that until all the facts are out. I'm assuming that the buzzards are feeding off of the frenzy, like they are afraid that when the report does come out that their viewers will no longer be interested.

my guess would be that some reporters have joined various discussion boards and are mining as much info as they can to keep the story going, and in the process keeping their job by producing stories.

CNN picked up WFTV's completely fictitious story. CNN hasn't mentioned the Monorail incident since the day it happened. Well not until tonight anyways. They're trying to cash in on a scandal--true or not.

I sent an angry comment to their general box and to Anderson Cooper 360's box.

You passed on a report from WFTV in Orlando regarding the Monorail. ( http://www.wftv.com/news/20000629/detail.html ) The story has been proven completely fictitious. I am disappointed they played into "tabloidism." But I am more disappointed that CNN didn't check anything either. WFTV claimed it was a Denny's across the street. The nearest Denny's is over 6 miles away (also goes for IHOP, Perkins, and Shoneys). In fact not a single restaurant is open anywhere near the Transportation and Ticket Center at 2 AM.

As a former Monorail Operator for Disney and can tell you everything in that WFTV story is complete garbage. There are many managers and trained dispatchers. WFTV's supposed ex monorail operator "source" had no way of knowing if these cast members were the "Monorail Central" or "Monorail 1" (manager on duty) or not.

I can tell you it's complete trash, but don't take my word for it; factually check that article! It's full of holes that are easily verifiable.

Many people are grieving over this and CNN comes off as Faux News Channel. They already cornered the market with the lowest common denominator of viewers, so going in that direction doesn't make any business sense.

Don't leave me without a single cable news outlet, guys! There are some places on the internet now that check their stories and attract good sources due to their upstanding reputations of a fair story. I hate to not have any news from TV anymore.

Check your stories! (yes, advancing other reports is advocating those reports.)

I do think that the media could be a little more "moral" in the way they handle news items, but the blame is not the media...it is the public. All you had to do is watch the circus that was Michael Jacksons life and death to see that the public has an almost unquenchable thirst for drama. The nastier the better!

There was the argument from someone that the person using the home video to record the aftermath of the monorail "wreck" should have been allowed to stay there until all the disturbing scene was recorded to be sold later to the highest bidder.

Even more sophisticated news broadcasts like CBS's Early Show have Harry Smith asking such incredible stupid questions to the families of fatal events, about how they are feeling right now. How the hell do you think they feel? Break out a "Bud" and let's party. Questions like "so the river just picked up your house, with all your pets and your grandmother inside and floated it away as you watched it disintegrate with everything lost forever...what are you feeling right now?" Well Harry, it started out pretty bad but then I found a dollar bill on the ground over there...so I'm feeling pretty good! I think we will rebuild right here on the river bank. See you guys next year about this time.

The MJ worship convinced me that there is no humanity left, just star worshipers. People with no ability to prioritize their existence to even know how a human being should be reacting to a drug using, child molesting, self mutilating freak show that in all likelihood killed himself by over indulgence. Yea...he's my hero!

Is the order to not to talk to media still in effect? If so then someone didn't get the memo. This morning I saw a statement from the Pink Monorail pilot. Another pilot also was talking to the news about what happen. To make matters worst the NTSB (?) keeps on sending reports and just feeds the whole thing. Ugh, there is a grieving mother in this whole thing can they not stop?

I think the driver of Pink decided it would be to his benefit to announce himself. Since he is on leave and the NTSB has talked to him, it was only a matter of time until his name leaked to the media. It would take an extra-scummy media to jump on a guy who revealed his own identity.

I need to start drinking coffee at home again. I thought it said WTF news.

I saw an interview last night with a friend of the pink driver (and of course they had to make a big point of repeating the driver's name several times). The friend said the only information he had wa the driver's statement, but the interviewer was like a jackal smelling blood in trying to get him to say more. For God's sake, I can just imagine how terrible everyone involved feels. Do they need to get dragged through the mud too?

Maybe during the Casey trial, our high-class Orlando media will do a re-enactment of the murder using a kid's baby doll.

Can you point me to something that disproves the story? I have no doubt that it's false, but I'd like something I can reference when communicating to others.
