I didn't work at WDW i worked at the DLR but we have our share of "theme parks" here in so cal, and i have to say that i perferred to work at Disney over any other park because of the integrity that Disney has. and over here in so cal universal pays minimum wage as does knott's im not sure what the pay is at legoland or six flags. but when u walk in the gates of all of those other parks as a guest you don't feel welcome as you do when u walk in the gates at Disneyland. i worked at knott's after i got termed from Disneyland, and i really hated every minute of it, even as an employee i really didn't feel welcome, so much back stabbing between employees, i know this goes on everywhere but at knotts the most, i was so happy the day i turned in my two week notice there. and i don't miss it at all, now when i got termed at Disney i was a bit sad, and i still miss working there two years after the fact, and i wish i could go back one day and work there i would even take a pay cut which i know i would have to Disney would not match what i make now, at Disneyland when a guest asks for some assistance and u help them out they are for the most part happy and tell you so, they let you know if they are happy, and thank you for making their day, now i know not all guests are like that if they were there would be no place for a site like this, but at knott's berry farm all the guest that go there always look pissed off even before they walk through the gates, i had a guest tell me that he wished i would get a brain tumor and die just because i asked him if he had a special assistance pass. he even wanted to engage in hand to hand combat when he came back to unload, i encountred many guests like this this at knotts during my year long tenure there so much for being the "friendliest place in the west" and don't forget the halloween haunt, but there is another place to post about that, at Disneyland i was happy to go to work everday i was scheduled, i didn't work in the slow season but many people i know did, and they tell me that the hours suck but i would much rather work less hours in the happiest place on earth than an eternity in the lousiest place in the west. but those are just my two cents.

Though I don't work at Disney World quite yet, it's in my career plan.
Ever since I was little, I went to WDW at least 3 times a year. I've always love it there. It literally was the happiest place on earth for me. When I got a little older I asked myself.. "What in the world was I thinking that I wanted to work at Disney? Am I crazy?!" That was when I was about 12/13 and getting a little worn out of Disney World. But that didn't stop our family from going 1-3 times a year...
When I got into high school I started to really think what I wanted to do in my future.
I went to WDW that year and got re-magic-disney-fied. (yes, I made it up all by myself :p: )
I start becoming OBSESSED with everything disney.
I set goals to learn at least 5 Disney Facts a day. My Mom, though, was not too happy about that, when I could have been doing school or studying about something more important.
Disney is and always will be important to me, So I was stubborn of course.
Up until now I've been looking into Disney Employment. From my past 4 trips starting in Jan of this year, I started to talking to CM's about how they liked it. And how they got started through all of it, I asked for tips and everything.
When I first told my friends about it, they were asking.. "Why would you want
to do that for? Ruin the Disney magic? You're gonna see all the backstage and dark parts of Disney."
I don't care. I don't care what I see. Just knowing that I'm practically living at Disney will be my dream. Disney World is amazing. Will always be my favorite place in the world. And as time goes on in my life, I'm counting down the days until I graduate and can start my Disney career. :)

I'm just curious how much one would make if they are just starting out at WDW, DLR or Universal?
You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I was kind of thinking of relocating and trying to get a job with WDW but I won't if I can't make enought to survive.

At WDW the starting pay for attractions is $7.00 an hour, a bus driver makes $9.35 an hour. However, attractions can work as many hours as they want (if they can work the EHH) a bus driver is limited to 70 hours in an eight day period and no more than a 12 hour day with a maximum of 10 hours driving. (DOT regulations)
I went to work for WDW because of the people and the atmosphere. I loved WDW as a guest and one day I was the only one on a bus from AKL to MK and the driver and I had quite a conversation. At the end she said that I should come and drive a bus there. So the next job fair, I went and applied. I have experience driving large vehicles in high stress situations (driving a fire truck as a volunteer firefighter will do that). The recruiter was pleased and it went on from there.
I love the job, I'm working with a great group of people (on the whole) and get to mess with guests.
I have not been to Universal for many years, one of these days I'll go back just to see what it's like.

Welcome to sunny Florida. The state where nobody gets paid what they are worth.
Well most people anyways as there are some that are making too much money at $7.00 an hour.

Wow, talk about a blast from the past. I started this thread over 2 years ago.
Anyway the starting pay at Universal is almost a dollar more an hour than at Disney. Not sure how the benefit packages compare though.

Same problem here. Nobody makes what they are worth. I'm a case worker and I make $.41 more than my husband who works at Wal-Mart. I don't make enough to put up with the stupid people that I deal with. Atleast several times a day I have someone yelling at me trying to tell me how to do my job and telling me what it is that I need to do for them. What they don't realize is that when they do this I don't do near as much for them as I could. I've bent rules to help people because it seemed that they have gone out of their way to be nice to me.
