Where's the fun in that?

Ain't no technology on Earth or even coming to Earth in the next century or more that can accomplish *that*! ;)

Perhaps, but when all of my FSAs and GSMs tell me not to do it, then I can't do it.

So... how do you do that without an account?

I have heard a very good explanation concerning all of NextGen, which includes MagicBands, Fastpass Plus, My Disney Experience, RFID tickets and everything related.

The description is from a friend who is a very high-level Technical Specialist in Disney's IT department: "This is a railroad claimed to be in full operation while they are still building the locomotive".

Everything is in testing and development. There is nobody who can give any accurate answer about any of these, or their interactions.

Everything is still subject to change on a daily basis.

And nobody has any idea when when everything will work. My personal opinion, also, is that Bob Iger's public statements are prepared by the PR department and not by knowledgeable people.

Okay, not to drag a FP+ conversation over here (heaven knows there's enough of them over on Board X) but do you, having actually talked to people who have a clue, think it's going to be as bad as the Board X-ers are predicting? When I read those threads, I get a definite "end of the world" vibe...

Sounds like Microsoft.

I work with FP+ and MyMagic Bands. I am getting *daily* updates and changes to the system. Half the system doesn't work yet, and I really don't think anyone knows if or how it will. This is absolutely a work in progress.

As one wit opined, "The railroad is open for business, but they're still designing the locomotive."

I think this a very apt description. While many grand promises have been made, it's not at all clear which will be fulfilled, which will be held back for rollout later, and which conveniently forgotten in the face of the technical challenges. WDW is in week two of the second Beta trial -- anyone who pretends to know how it will all work next month is blowing smoke, even if they are on the technical design team!

I do expect things to get much better before this period of change ends (they have to). But where we'll end up is still very much a mystery to all.

Sounds like they've fallen back from beta testing and gone to basic research mode as in, "We don't know what the hell we're doing."
