it dosn't surprise me at all. when peoples "heros" are someone that gets a reality show and has done nothing more than act badly in public, well, it shows what they hold valuable in personal conduct.
it was NBC

One time, at Veterans Day, a child was quoted as saying it was "Veterinarians' Day"; they had no idea the day honored those in the armed forces, or formerly in the armed forces; thought "vet" meant an animal doctor. People just don't pay attention to anything these days. And it's scary.

I think it's ok for children to think that (and then take them to Flag Retreat for some learnin')....but imagine my surprise when I found out from my Mom that the big furry white creature on the Rudolph Cartoon wasn't actually called "The Abdominal Snowman"

RIP Neil Armstrong. :(
My kids knew Armstrong was an astronaut. I have my doubts that they knew he was the first man to walk on the moon, though.

You know what really freaks me out? Those commercials running on TV now for the L.A. County Fair. The ones where the girls are asking their mom what the sweater is made of, and is told it's wool. "Is that from a cow?" "Yes." "A boy cow or a girl cow?" "A boy cow."
Okay boys and girls, here's today's lesson in Agriculture 101:
A boy cow is a BULL; his sole purpose is to get together with a cow (female) in order that she will, after nine months, produce a calf and milk.
Wool comes from SHEEP; both genders provide it.
Mohair comes from GOATS, specifically ANGORA GOATS.
Okay, that's enough for one lesson. Class dismissed. ;)

And also to chase SGs down the streets in Pamplona, Spain.

And hopefully gore a stupid bullfighter to death wherever the "sport" of bullfighting is still held.

That seems like an awfully short gestation for such a large animal.
Now I have to see if I can find and dig out that picture of me several years ago, when I was playing Santa for a group of kids at my father's company Christmas party. One of the employees owned a farm and brought a calf that had been born two days previously. Somewhere, I have a picture of me as Santa with a newborn calf on my lap.
Definitely one of those memorable moments in my life.

Size has little to do with the length of gestation. Actually, there's a range in length of gestation period, depending on breed. A blue whale is way bigger than an elephant, yet an elephant has a gestation of 22 months. I'm pretty sure a blue whale's is somewhat shorter.
