Stupid Guest Tricks

I was there today, they had a sign that the MK monorails would be shut from 11:00 A.M. until 6:30 P.M. here is a link to the local news story.

We heard about the closing on the radio before we went. I also saw they had a piece of construction equipment working very close to the beam, so I understand why they would close the monorails down. The EPCOT beam was open and operating normally.

Just to clarify, yes, the Monorails sometimes need to operate at reduced speeds between the MK and the Grand Flo. THIS IS NOT DUE TO TRACK DAMAGE. As was said above, there are expansion joints in the beamway to allow for it to expand and contract during extreme temperature shifts. So why between the MK and the Flo? Those tend to open up a bit more than the other joints when it's really cold out. It creates a slight dip between the joints, which could be a hard jolt if the train drove over it at 30mph.

That would be due to the construction at the Grand Floridian Resort & no spa. They have to work close to the beamway this month.

I worked for a speed dip way back when. Man was I happy when I found a new job.

And to be fair, one of the other reasons to be slow over an overly-opened joint, so that you don't create damage.

Though I have heard of the joint actually being damaged once or twice.
